californiacruiser Posted August 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Anyone familiar with this cabin? Will it have a fair amount of light in it? It says fully obstructed, so I imagine thre would be no view at all. What about the deck is it good? Thanks in advance.
CrystalWater Posted August 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2007 The only thing I'm trying to see is that the Panorama deck is right above and how quickly we can get up and out to there from our cabins.
CrystalWater Posted August 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Also, Lisa says they have floor to ceiling windows. I don't know where she gets that info because the pictures of the outside cabins show just a square box window. Do you know?
californiacruiser Posted August 11, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Some other posting says that they have fllor to ceiling windows. What cabin do you have?
haligonian37 Posted August 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2007 I've never been on the Noordam but was on the Westerdam this past Februrary in a G category cabin, 4080, which was partially obstructed. As you can see from the picture below, the cabin had a floor to ceiling window, which provided a lot of natural light. I booked GG4082 on my Oosterdam Alaska cruise because of my experience with 4080.
CrystalWater Posted August 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2007 I did some more checking and I do believe they all do have floor to ceiling windows, which is good. Basically these cabins are 185 square feet and pretty much like the size of a regular balcony room without the balcony on other lines, so the space isn't too bad. It will be like having a balcony without one with that window, so maybe it won't be so bad.
jtl513 Posted August 11, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Your view from 4086 will be more obstructucted than haligonian37's 4080, but I think you'll be able to see some water as you look left (aft-ward). Remember that occasionally there will be some unannounced crew outside your window, so manage your drapes accordingly. :)
californiacruiser Posted August 11, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Thanks everyone it doesn't look too bad.
CrystalWater Posted August 12, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 12, 2007 It will be practically just like having a regular balcony room on a cruise ship without the balcony and a floor to ceiling window with a lifeboat hanging right through the middle of it. It will be fully obstructed, not partially like the photo above. I think we can live with it too, it's better than no window with a tiny inside cabin. Lisa, by just going a deck up I think or is it down, is the acess to get outside to the promenade deck fairly quick and easy?
CrystalWater Posted August 12, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 12, 2007  Also, California, remember, it beats paying over double to just have a few more square feet and a balcony. So we have to remember that when we feel bummed. ;)
californiacruiser Posted August 12, 2007 Author #11 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Yes absolutely it will be fine and can't wait for all the other pluses of just the ship alone.
InTheWASide Posted August 12, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2007 You'll have floor to ceiling windows. If FORWARD of the mid elevators it';ll be a bit more obstructed. If aft of the elevators you'll be by the tender boats with the big windows. Either way though, lots of light, you'll know what the weather is doing... Have a great time!
