AbelowDS Posted August 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2007 We're arriving in Papeete around 6:30PM. There are no ferries over to Moorea that late in the day, so we'll need to take an Air Moorea flight over to Moorea. This is where my dilema begins.... AIR TAHITI NUI per person 2 Carry on bags - up to 22 lbs per bag 2 checked bags - up to 50 lbs per bag AIR MOOREA per person 1 Carry on bag - up to 11 lbs checked bags - up to 44 lbs total So, we're allowed up to 144 lbs per person on Air Tahiti Nui but only 55 lbs per person on Air Moorea. Anyone have any guidance (other than packing extremely lightly, which we already plan to do) on what to do? I can only imagine that Air Moorea charges a fortune for excess baggage. And even then, the planes are small, so I wouldn't be surprised if they sometimes don't take excess luggage due to the weight of the loaded aircraft... Princess-of-Quite-alot Posted August 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2007 How long are you going to be on Moorea for? If only for a few days, you really do not need to bring much. Just a couple swimsuits, a cover-up, pair of shorts, couple shirts and a camera. Snorkle set if you want. Oh, and don't forget the sunscreen. Leave the rest at the airport in their storage area for a slight fee.

Seal Posted August 20, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2007 We packed for the limitations for Bora Bora--similar to yours for oorea--our carry on could only be 6# as I remember--we left our luggage for the cruise at the flower shop across the street from the airport--they charge us about $70 for our luggage--at least 3 good-size bags--maybe more Good Luck--just take what you'll need for the time you're there--it'll work out--easy to get dressed when you have hardly anything to pick from !!!! udamudda Posted September 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2007 We just returned from a trip to Moorea pre-cruise. We packed so that our carryons were the ones we checked and we stored two bags at the airport storage behind the lei sales. It cost us less than $60 US to store both bags from Saturday night until Wednesday when we returned. Air Moorea does not weight or check anything. We could carry on liquids or anything we wanted. No weighing or checking of any kind. They were very careful with their preflight checks and we felt completely safe the entire time of the 8 minute flight. ;) Don't fret and only pack what you need for the island (which isn't much). Bren <-- can't wait to get back to paradise!!
