we have been upgraded to a suite, Cat 11 on the Carnival Destiny. What does the VIP include? I just noticed it on our lugguage tags.

VIP for suite gives you priority boarding. Unless you are a platinum member (10 + cruises), you will not get VIP for debarkation.

we paid for a balcony on the Lido deck, Cat 8D. I liked the location better, but a suite will do!

Yes, suites do have priority disembarkment also.
