Mirella Posted August 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Ok...I chose the Sensation Fun Ship because my husband and I are taking our first cruise w/our 11 yr old son, Ryan ,and this ship has "Camp Carnival." I checked a "sample" itenerary, and it looks LAME for an 11 yr old. We have Shore Excursions planned already until 3:30pm both days- but one night- we'd like to hit the casino...but now I feel quilty leaving Ryan where he might be bored and not have a good time. Can anyone tell me about their experiences, or plans, for their kids at night...and any tips on fun things to do together on the ship? I'd appreciate any help - I'm so excited about this trip .. it's just really important that we ALL have fun. thanks- Mirella
laura1960 Posted August 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2007 My kids will be 14, 9 and 7 on our next cruise (their 4th) and they've all had a great time on Camp Carnival, even at activities they might have considered "lame." Give it a chance - don't send him there for 20 minutes and then pick him up. Does he make friends easily? Maybe he can get together with a friend who has the same type of interests, and together they can do the Camp Carnival activities. My kids almost always met someone fun at Camp Carnival. And if he's bored for an hour, well, he's bored. He's 11; he'll get over it. It's not only HIS vacation, it's YOURS too - if you want to go to the casino for an hour or so, you have that right. As to fun things we like to do with the kids aboard the ship on sea days, we like to swim, hot tub, explore the ship, go down the waterslide, participate in some of the family activities, eat at the pizzeria and hang out by the pool. Most ships - I'm not familiar with the Sensation - also have basketball courts, ping pong tables, video arcades, and game rooms. Hope Ryan has a great time! When are you cruising?
