Mirella Posted August 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Please reply with all of your great experiences on the Sensation Carnival Cruise Ship. I'm leaving THIS Sunday 8/26 from Cape Canaveral, going to the Bahamas...and I would LOVE to hear some great stories from people who actually been on this ship and LOVED it! Also- if anyone has ever had a room on the Veranda Interior...I'd like to know your opinion of those rooms. Lastly- does the casino have slots, black jack, AND poker- or just slots? Just wondering! Thanks for any input you can give me!! Mirella :)
tomboyy Posted August 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Casino does have slots Black Jack and Poker. first night is 3 dollars min .. the rest of the nights the min. is 5 dollars. The poker tables are not your straight poker but games like carribean stud and such. You will find a 7 card Texas hold'em game but its not in the casino... keep walking past the casino until you get to the back of the ship and thats where you'll find it:)

Ellanora Posted August 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2007 The Sensation is a fantastic ship, and my favorite so far. My family had great service in all ways this past September. I highly, HIGHLY recommend the show, Far From Over, it is an 80's review, and it got a standing ovation the night we were there. You've probably read about all of the neon purple and green around the ship, but since those are two of my favorite colors, I loved it! One of the few complaints I had (not a serious complaint though) was that it didn't have the type of slot machines where you can bet on five lines at a time (three horizontal, two diagonal), only ones that had one horizontal bet available. Like I said, not a big deal, just a matter of preference.
flowermom Posted August 20, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2007 I'll be on this ship for the first time this Thursday. Has anyone that's been on this one been on the Ecstasy? We were on the Ecstasy last May and my 10yr old son has not stopped talking about it yet. Just wondering how they compare, since they are the same class of ship. He's bouncing off the walls already. Thank goodness we're flying in on Wednesday - Is anyone else seeing the storm tracking for the Bahamas and east coast of Florida? Should I be getting nervous? JnK Posted August 20, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2007 It's been a year since we cruised on the Sensation & we loved it. We had great service in the dining room & on the Lido deck. Don't miss the 80's review show as someone posted earlier. Overall great cruise!
cruisinMImom Posted August 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2007 My husband and I took our honeymoon vacation on the Sensation in September, 2000. Our stops were at Grand Caymen, Cozumel and New Orleans. We had the time of our lives and have been cruising ever since. My husband loves the Fantasy class ships. He feels the customer service is better, and I think he is right. I believe their is a higher staff ratio per guest. Our only regret was that we did not bring our friends and family along with us on our honeymoon cruise! The more, the merrier!
lupee13 Posted August 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2007 i LOVED the sensation!! we just got off of it! it was amazing i am soo jealous that you are going hahaaha casino has all 3 things you asked about....and i think they have a tournament during the cruise for each i know there was a slots and black jack tournament i think the neon colors add to the ships charisma and it made me like the ship even more! Honestly this ship is amazing ! when you eat at the seaview bar and grill on the lido deck go out the doors by the pizzeria...or the ones directly across the room they lead out to a beautiful eating area thats rarely ever crowded there is a great little candy by the pound place right next to the casino its great when you want some snacks before a show! go to all the shows they are great! (well the comedians are ok we like t.c. tahoe better than the other guy idk who you will have) take a jacket to the show the fantasia lounge is normally cold when in the fantasia lounge either sit on the ground seats or if you wanna be up in the balcony sit along the glass or in the booth things in the middle if you don't you won't be able to see! play bingo atleast once it's fun! also if you end up in the ecstasy dinning room and jesus and dimitri are your waiters you are so lucky they are great! Drew's Wife Posted August 21, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 21, 2007 We sailed the Sensation last year, and have two more booked. We love The Fantasy class ships. They are smaller, but that is what we like about them. We always book the Verandah deck. You will love it!! It is usually very quite as there are not as many cabins. I can't tell you about the IS cabins on that deck as we always book a balcony, but I think you will be very pleased. Can't really tell you about any of the shows, as we do not go to those, or the casino either, but I'm sure it has all of the things that you asked about. The ship if quite colorful:) Lots of purple! And the piano bar is a little strange with red and black hands everywhere.:D In all honesty the decor of The Sensation is not my favorite, I liike The Fantasy, but the service and the staff are just wonderful and you will have a wonderful time. Here are a few pictures from around the ship, one of our cabin and my favorite towel animal!:D Hope you have a good time.
reddgrits Posted August 21, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 21, 2007 Word. :D This is Hayley aka reddgrits jr. My first cruise was last july on the Sensation and I loved it!!!!!! Some of the best thangs were: *Mini golfin' on the TOP DECK of the ship *the stools in the Touch of Class Lounge *free ice cream *the Reuben sandwich *Kareoke nights with Lance *the photo stations at night (we got our family portrait done at the western station) *a massive piece of carrot cake (it cost extra, $2.00, but our family of 6 couldn't eat it all!) *free deck of cards at the pusers desk *watchin' people *pretty much all the food on the ship!:) It was a great trip! Hope ya'll have fun! ~*~Hayley~*~
sandsand Posted August 21, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 21, 2007 Of the Carnival ships I've sailed the Sensation was my favorite -- and I was just on the Conquest. Oh yes, the Touch of Class bar is very odd. We called it the "Touch Yo Ass" for obvious reasons.

cruzinfamly5 Posted August 21, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 21, 2007 What a great ship! My mom, 9yodd (at that time) and I all shared an inside Verandah deck cabin. We had more than enough room for everything and LOVED that cruise. I'm with all the purple lovin' people above ... I thought the color made things more fun, especially for my daughter. Don't know if the OP is taking kids along, but Camp Carnival was awesome, too ... even in the "off" peak season for kids. Don't pass up the pizza! It was really, really good (I think we had some every day).

walkerer Posted August 22, 2007 #23 Share Posted August 22, 2007 We cruised on the Sensation for our honeymoon last November. The ship stopped in Freeport and Nassau and we absolutely loved it. It was our first time in Freeport and I have to say it is beautiful and quieter than Nassau. Definitely check out the food in Freeport (i.e. conch fritters) and the beer (Kalik). Have a great time!
