snoopy124 Posted August 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2007 What is an aft balcony? How do you know if your room has a balcony that has an obstructed view? Anyone ever in room B627 Baja Grand Princess boat? Also if you do traditional dining, can you skip out one night and go some place else to eat? beth4652 Posted August 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2007 at the back of the ship. The cruise line or your TA can tell you if it has an obstructed view. Be advised, though, that an obstructed view can mean several things, not all of them bad. Yes, you can eat elsewhere anytime. It's courteous, though, to let your waiter and tablemates know. That way, they won't delay dinner waiting for you.
cactusrose Posted August 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2007 You can eat elsewhere but on some ships if you want to eat in one of the anytime dinning rooms, you may loose your table in the traditional dinning room. This won't happen if you eat in the horizon court or one of the alternative restaurants such as Sabatini's or Sterlings.
spongerob Posted August 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2007 Balconies don't have obstructed views. Obstructions are things like life boats hanging partially or totally in front of a window. Some of the aft cabins have a beam that some call an obstruction, but it doesn't really prevent viewing.
nana nancy Posted August 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 21, 2007 We've booked C748 for an Alaska Cruise 7/26/2008. We had an aft balcony on a NCL Hawaii cruise and it enabled us to see everything! Anyone have an opinion on Princess aft balconies?

Efrain Posted August 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2007 For the record, beams and spandrels run horizontally, columns and pilasters run vertically.
m steve Posted August 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2007 I prefer the aft balconies as they usually are deeper than side balconies so you have more room. Also you can get terrific sail away photos. Some ships are now charging a little more for them.
