puggal Posted August 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2007 we'll be cruising on the Mariner next June and was wondering if crop pants would be ok for casual nights in the dining room.
ChefPeg Posted August 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2007 we'll be cruising on the Mariner next June and was wondering if crop pants would be ok for casual nights in the dining room. For casual nights, I think cropped/capri pants are fine with a nice top for the dining room.
Jane110 Posted August 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2007 The dressiness or casualness of the cropped pants really depends on the fabric, the cut and what you wear them with, not the length. For example, if you wear a pair that are of a dressier fabric, like silk or cotton gabardine and are crisp looking and fit you well and then pair them with a pretty top (something silky or a sophisticated twin sweater set) and cute sexy sandals, you'll be fine. However, if you wear a pair that are like a pair of khaki's or linen, paired with a tee shirt and "walking" sandals, then, IMHO, you'll be too casually dressed. See the difference? KC_fn Posted August 22, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2007 I wore capris to Mariner's dining room every night, except formal night. With a nice top and a bit of jewelry, I think they're perfectly fine.
DukeFamily Posted August 22, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2007 We ARE talking casual nights here, so cropped/capri pants with a t-shirt (nice one, not one from Sloppy Joes) and sandals would be fine.
eandj Posted August 22, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2007 I wear some capris for casual nights with cotton tops and lower wedges. Then I have a couple more linen like pair that I wear with dressier tops, jewelry and dressier sandals for informal nights. Both work. You'll see MANY women wearing them. Jane110 Posted August 26, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Crops, capris, and the nice bermuda shorts are all fine for casual nites.... Most cruise lines do not allow shorts in the dining room at dinner time. (personally, I'm glad about that)
Kurbanfan Posted August 26, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Most cruise lines do not allow shorts in the dining room at dinner time. (personally, I'm glad about that) The op is going on RCCL and will be fine with the bermuda shorts;) The new style is becoming more popular that I have seen them on our last 2 cruises, myself included. Bermuda shorts are actually a very old style, just like capris, pedal pushers and cropped pants. We have tons of pictures of my mother in these in the early 60s, with her pointy toed flat shoes and 3/4 length sleeved cotton shirts. I do wear capris on casual nights ~ nice crisp ones with beaded or dressier tops and strappy sandals. I personally would consider bermudas far too casual, plus you have to have a pretty great figure to get away with them!
henepup Posted August 27, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I just got an e-mail from my pvp (Carnival) that stated: Capris are welcome in the dining room on casual evenings. I wore my capris on NCL, Carnival and RCCL. Have a great day!
