kelleya Posted August 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2007 We (2 couples) will be staying in Vancouver for 2 nights pre-cruise next year. We are all frequent travelers and have hotel points we could use. We have Marriott Rewards, Hilton Honors, and Priority Club (Intercontinental Hotels Group - Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc...) We are looking for a property in a centralized location. Can anyone suggest a good Marriott or Hilton Property? or a Holiday Inn property (Intercontinental, HI, HI express, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Staybridge suites, Candlewood suites) Thanks in Advance! I know of only two Hiltom properties in Vancouver and they are both not in the downtown core. There is probably a Holiday Inn downtown but you would need to look. http://www.tourismvancouver.com/visitors/ http://www.hellobc.com/en-CA/default.htm The sites above will give you a list of hotel in Vancouver and nearby. A good hotel is the Bayshore ,close to cruise terminal and the downtown.

LeftcoastBC Posted August 22, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2007 The Marriott Residence Inn on Hornby is pretty handy to everything (but not the best) It does/did have great big rooms and the best, most varied included breakfast I've ever experienced as a bonus. southwardbound Posted September 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Hampton Inn and Suites (a Hilton property) on Robson St. has good reviews on Tripadvisor.
Urban trekker Posted September 8, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2007 "Marriott Residence Inn on Hornby - yes it is in a fairly good location and also is only a couple of blocks from the little ferries to take you over to Granville Island - the only one drawback at the present time is that there is a condo project underway next door that starts up at 7:AM each - I know because I live a block away and hear the cement trucks coming up the street - so if you are going stay there request a room away from the noise. Hampton house is okay - in a different part of the downtown core. There is a Holiday Inn on Howe street that would be handy. There is another Marriott on Hastings - while in the financial business core it is only a couple of blocks from Canada Place and central for Stanley park etc. Hope this helps Cheers Dennis
LeftcoastBC Posted September 8, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2007 FYI The Marriott on Hornby has(had) the best included breakfast ever.
kelleya Posted September 8, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Thanks everyone!!!! Your help is most appreciated. Dennis - thanks for the "local" perspective! I would not be happy with construction starting at 7AM on my vacation!!! Do you happen to know the projected time frame for the constuction? We're not traveling until next June. Thanks again to all! Urban trekker Posted September 10, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 10, 2007 "Do you happen to know the projected time frame for the construction?' No but it isn't a large project - only about 12 - 14 stories and they work through the winter here - they have just about reached ground level - at that rate it should only take 4 - 5 months to finish the pouring - but more news - there is another project starting up behind the hotel although if you take a room on Hornby you probably won't hear that much noise - there is 2 - 3 billion $$$ of construction going on just in the downtown area alone so construction noise is a fact of life at present. If you are thinking of this hotel - why not e-mail them and see if they know how long the projects will take or check trip adviser and see if there are any recent posts. Hope this helps. KAYEF Posted September 18, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2007 We stayed at that Marriott just a couple of blocks from Canada Place. When we awakened in the morning, there were the ships! The room had a fantastic view, the beds were wonderful and the next morning we walked around, hit Starbucks and then pulled our suitcases over to the ship and boarded early. The day before we walked all over (Stanley Park, etc.) and had a delicious dinner right to the north of Canada Place (someone on here recommended it to us). What a fun start to the cruise..............plus, the limo from the airport.;)
