Buccaneer Catamaran to Stingray City

It's pretty good - worth the money. If you have snorkeled before, you'll be fine - if you haven't, don't expect any advice. At Stingray city, they let everyone have a chance with the 'rays. I'm hoping my Dec. cruise itineray gets switched to Grand Cayman, since we were supposed to go to Costa Maya. If we do get switched, I will, definately, be doing the Buccaneer excursion, again.

We are on the Sept. 9th sailing of the Conquest and will be in G/C on the 13th. We have booked this excursion, and I will be happy to review it when we get back. The main reason we decided on this tour was that it's on a catamaran and not a cabin cruiser....my wife loves to sail.

Anyone have an opinion about this excursion good or bad?

I've done this twice, once with kids, once with adults. Both were great! :) As far as the comment on no advice....I guess that's a case by case basis because I was just going along for the ride and I really didn't want to snorkle (I'm a fraidy-cat) and the captain talked me into it and even went in with me to help me! On my first trip they talked me into getting in for a minute and they kept a guide nearby since I was afraid. I felt very safe with them. Well, as safe as a non-swimmer can feel in an ocean full of predators LOL LOL LOL! We are all set to join them for the 3rd time in a few weeks. :)

Just back from the Conquest Sunday. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with Capt Bryan's. We did not get the special attention I have read from others. It was ok but the crew was not very interactive. They were with the stingrays to get the pics. They did really point out anything else on the other stops like I have read elswhere. I would try Capt Marvins next time. The trip was fine-i guess I expected a bit more from a smaller tour. there were not that many stingrays because the majority had left for deeper water because of Dean. IMO

  • 3 weeks later...

I had said in an earlier post that I would come back and give a review. Sad to report that when we arrived in Grand Cayman this past Thursday (09/13) the weather was really bad. Lightning, thunder and heavy rain. The excursion was canceled. We were really looking forward to it. The one thing that I can report on is, a co-worker of mine went on this same trip the previous week (09/06) and his pictures of it are fantastic. He told me that this was the best excursion of their entire trip and would not hesitate to go again. Maybe next time we go to Grand Cayman, I can experience it myself.
