alasbound Posted August 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2007 Anyone fly from Vancouver to DFW (home) recently? How long did customs take? Anything special to know about flying there? What about connecting to another flight? Thanks for any info.
Ephraim Posted August 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2007 Do you mean Canada Customs when you arrive in Vancouver or US CBP when you leave Vancouver? Remember, when leaving from major Canadian airports you go through US CBP in the Canadian airport. You are therefore essentially flying a domestic US flight from that point on. If you are connecting through a Canadian airport, you would be doing a domestic Canadian flight and would go through US CBP at the last airport before you fly to the US. You will have to claim your luggage and take it through US CBP. The reverse is true as well. If you land in Canada and then take a Canadian domestic flight, you would go through Canada Customs at the first airport, claim your luggage and put it on the special conveyor for transferring domestic flights. alasbound Posted August 27, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted August 27, 2007 Thanks. I didn't know that. I guess that's what they call pre-clearing customs. That helps me alot.
