alikim Posted August 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2007 It's finally here! I'm leaving tomorrow and as I was packing last night, I was wondering if I should put locks on my luggages. It's all clothes and necessities, no valuables. Is it really necessary to put locks on the luggages? Thank you.
lambs2 Posted August 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2007 I switched to using colored cable ties on my luggage. It is just a little extra security and if TSA picks your luggage for spot checking they cut them off - no big deal like when they broke my brand new locks off my brand new luggage a couple years ago!
debtech Posted August 25, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2007 I do lock my luggage. I use the TSA locks that you can get any Walmart, Kamart, Target, or most any place that carries luggage. If the airlines want to get in it they have special keys that they way it only lets security in and not any one else like baggage handlers. I hope that this helps.:)
Nancyquilts Posted August 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Even when we're driving to the port, we always use the TSA locks on our luggage. I don't want to take a chance that someone could take out - or put in - anything (and no, there's nothing valuable in my suitcases either). beachchick Posted August 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2007 For the airline flights, we use the zipties or (because we fly out of a small regional airport) ask the agents to attach our locks after the inspection. For the ship, absolutely we lock our luggage. beachchick
Administrators Rare CC Help Michell Posted August 26, 2007 Administrators #6 Share Posted August 26, 2007 TSA locks all the way, now that they have them. We used the colored zipping cable ties before the new locks came out. An added bonus, you can get the locks in bright neon colors -- makes your bag easier to spot. We use them for flights (TSA has keys to access if your bags are selected for opening), and for the ship (and for hotels with valet service, etc.)
