Shoesandhandbags Posted August 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2007 On the Star this Saturday and a group of us are in Mooloolaba for 3 days prior to this. We have to take our rental van back to Northgate and then make our way to Portside. Can any locals please tell me how far this is, and on a Saturday morning approx. travelling time? Also we are meeting an older lady (not coming to Mooloolaba). She's staying in the city (Queen St)on the Friday night. Should we drive into the city to pick her up before dropping off the van or would it be easier for her to take a cab directly to Portside (and again how far/long?). If she does this, is there a spot at Portside where we could meet easliy enough? You lot are a wealth of knowledge so hope someone can help!! i_love_cruising Posted August 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Hi Shoesandhandbags, Northgate is probably only a matter of a few km's - maybe 5-7 - away from Portside (straight up Nudgee Road). There is a website - http://www.whereis.com -that can give you directions. Travelling time on a Saturday morning would only be around 10 minutes or so, depending on how early you are dropping the van off. As for picking up your friend from the city, it's a matter of choice. Again, depending on the time, you might be better off picking her up and then all travelling as a group back to Northgate, that way you wont have to worry about meeting up at Portside. A taxi could work out to be around $20-$30 from Queen Street to Portside (even more?). There are some shops, including coffee shop, that are easily found at Portside (right near the taxi rank too). I hope this is of a help to you. I'll be there to wave you off, if the ship leaves on time this week!!!:D Sarah
