drbreid Posted August 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2007 For the people that have done these in the past, what is the usually entertainment for the one nighters? Food wise, would it be like a regular first day cruise with buffet/poolside grill/etc.? What do they usually have in the main dining rooms for dinner? Will it be impossible to get a reservation for LaTrattoria? Do they have anything for latitudes members, a reception, maybe a "free drink or two with the captain" can't hurt to ask and start the party early. :p Sorry, first time on a one night cruise!!! TIA Dolores
jimswims Posted August 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Hi Dolores, Glad to see that you are going on a 1 nighter. We are going to be on the 2 nighter in October. We hope that you have a great cruise and seriously plan on going on the Spirit in August 2008! Have a great time.
jame_g Posted August 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I didn't see anything specific for the latitudes members on the one nighter. You can get reservations, I recommend making them as soon as you can after you board. The buffet will be open. I think they did have something out by the pool on our one nighter. Some services may be limited on the one nighter, like the spa. On our one nighter, there was only one show. However, other people have reported that there are typically two shows on the one nighters. The casino was open, and later in the evening they had a small "buffet" with several appetizers in the casino. Do some searches here on the one-nighters. There have been several discussions here abouot them lately.

drbreid Posted August 28, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted August 28, 2007 thanks for the response! Jame I did a quick search just under the NCL thread and found lots of help, I tried that on the main search and it timed out. Sorry, but I knew I would get a somewhat quicker answer, so I posted the question here. (such a newbie) Jim, we are looking at quotes for 8/9/08 Spirit and will be seriously looking a this 8 day for next summer, it will be great to see You, Liz & the kids and to sail with Phil, Susan & Nick again, we had a great time with them on the Dawn this year also. Not enough time. I've been on several of these one nighters and they are different but fun. A lot livelier than a longer cruise. The casino will be rocking. I can't tell you what they will have in the main dining room. But it will be a regular menu. As mentioned make your reservation for LaTrattoria early. As soon as you board there is a reservation desk set up in the lobby of the ship. You will arrive back in NY around 7 AM but you can stay on the ship till around 10:30. SO you don't have to rush off the ship. Nice to lounge around.

AKA1908 Posted August 28, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 28, 2007 what is a freestyle daily?
electricron Posted August 28, 2007 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2007 what is a freestyle daily? It's the ship's newspaper, showing the daily schedule of activities, events, and restaurants. It also contains twice as many ads as information. Cruise clues has many links for a Freestyle Daily. Check them out. NCL changes activities, entertainers often, so a Freestyle Daily from just a few weeks earlier can be out of date. Just use the ones you can find on the internet as a sample of what's going on, don't use it religiously for times and dates.
Grandpaul Posted August 28, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 28, 2007 what time do they kick you out of the room? It'd be nice if we could stay in until at least 8:30ish. :o On our previous one-nighters we were able to stay in our rooms till we left the ship at 10:30. So I would imagine 8:30 will be no problem. There could still be a little rush getting off the ship then since everyone gets off about the same time. Enjoy your cruise.
Dunder Posted August 28, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 28, 2007 We did the NCL Dawn a few months ago. Overall a lousy trip and I left a reivew if interested. We are hoping the Spirit crew and food is better. Its the attractive price that makes it worth the trip, cheaper than a New York hotel room and two cheap meals in a Broadway pub. Anywho, we HIGHLY recommend you RUSH to the restaurant reservations desk in the lobby if you want Cagney's, etc. The slots fill up very quickly and many irritated people are screaming at the poor crew about not getting their desired time. On last note, unlike :D Carnival and some other cruise companies, NCL only offers water, iced tea and coffee free. No juice machines:mad: (orange, cranberry, etc) so you may want to buy a COKE cup in the lobby when you arrive, its usually next to the reservations desk. castle701 Posted August 28, 2007 #17 Share Posted August 28, 2007 We are going on the 1 nighter on October 27th - we are bringing about 12 folks with us - age 23-56. Does anyone have any info at all about the teen club? We have a 14 year old who wants to go, but feel that there will not be any teens onboard since this cruise is a dinner/dance cruise. NCL told me that the teen club will be open, but wondering if any kids will be there. Also, which restaurants open for lunch and for breakfast the next morning??? Which specialty restaurant for a large group??? Any idea what time the one show is??? What to do beside spa during the day - we hope to board as early as possible since pool is closed. thanks for any help! thanks so much... TITISSA Posted August 29, 2007 #18 Share Posted August 29, 2007 I ordered the Anniversary Decorations for our 18th anniversary for our 9/1 one nighter on the Spirit. Does anyone know what that is? It was $30 so I ordered champagne also because that was not included. But what about the decorations, how is it? Thanks.
electricron Posted August 29, 2007 #19 Share Posted August 29, 2007 No juice machines......what? Juice is available for breakfast, and can be had for lunch and diner at the restaurants, but apparently not in the buffet.
