cruisingcouple07 Posted September 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2007 I am sorry for all of the questions.....:o but I want this to be an amazing trip and I thought why reinvent the wheel when I can ask experienced cruisers what they thought of tours in advance? I see you can rent a cabana for the day for 249. Is it worth it?. Both my BF and I don't mind the sun and would probably be fine with a clamshell but I thought it might be a nice little perk on our last full day of cruising. Also, I am interested in going on the dune buggies?. Any other "must see" excursions? Thanks!!!:)

Also, I am interested in going on the dune buggies?. Any other "must see" excursions? Thanks!!!:) Can't comment on the dune buggies, but we have rented a cabana. Some folks say it's not worth the expense, but other folks, like me, think the cabanas are a wonderful way to spend a day on Half Moon Cay!:) Makes a beautiful day even more special. But we were content to spend the whole time either in our cabana, or on the beach and in the water right near by. If you're looking at an active excursion elsewhere on the island, it might not be such a good option for you. Depends on you, your tastes, and your budget:) Have an amazing trip! cruisingcouple07 Posted September 2, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 2, 2007 Karin, Are the cabanas very close to the beach or do you have to walk a ways to get to the beach (which would be silly). I am thinking it would be an amazing way to spend the whole day. Do you have access to full size lounge chairs on the cabana deck? Wendy
Old As Dirt Mom Posted September 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2007 Karin,Are the cabanas very close to the beach or do you have to walk a ways to get to the beach (which would be silly). I am thinking it would be an amazing way to spend the whole day. Do you have access to full size lounge chairs on the cabana deck? Wendy All the cabanas are strung out along the beach, but each cabana is right on the beach, just a few steps from the beautiful translucent blue water. Some are close to the amenities such as the barbecue, bathrooms, shops, dock, etc. Others are a little ways out, but there is a path and also open air trucks that provide transportation. Here is a link courtesy of CC member Skywalkervadar, showing the location of all the cabanas. (Click on the rh side of the photo to enlarge it; you know, one of those funny little yellow boxes with the four blue arrows thingys:) ). The cabanas numbered 1-6 are closest to the dock. Oh my word the cabanas have all the amenites. Full size loungers, your own private shower, tables, chairs, cooler with drinks and snacks (alchohol is extra), air conditioning if you want it, towels, floating mats for the water, snorkeling gear if you want that, etc. etc. We also opted for the butler package in addition to the cabana package, is that what you're getting? That takes the experience really over the top. The butler escorts you to and from the cabana, you are served a gorgeous lunch prepared by the Pinnacle Grill chef, and an open bar is available to you. It was the big splurge of our Caribbean itinerary, and just about our favorite day on the whole cruise.:) Karin

mes531 Posted September 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2007 If you want a cabana, make sure you book it the first day possible!! I was able to get one, and it was the highlight of our trip. Definitely worth the money and a great way to truly enjoy the beach!!! Didn't get an escort to the buffet, but the cabana was stocked with beverages and snacks!!
