frediver Posted September 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2007 Any hotels you can recommend for a short stay in Papeete? We have a red eye flight and would like to find a hotel room for the day that is a bit more reasonable than the intercontinental ( $300.00 day ) and a safe place to leave our luggage. The plan is to check-in early if possible then sight see or take a short tour, catch a nap & shower then off to the airport. Thanks<><
Maureen4 Posted September 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2007 We stayed at the Sheraton and was surprised how nice it was. The grounds and pool were quite beautiful and it was cheaper then the IC
Seal Posted September 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2007 You can always use the ship and then shower and leave in the evening for the airport--you may have use of the ship--just can't go back to your stateroom We have always spent a couple of days at IC Tahiti--on the day of your evening flight you can get a day room or use a shower room for 1/2 hour before your flight Nancy When does your flight leave for LAX ?? texswamper Posted September 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2007 The IC does have 4 transit rooms available to shower and change your clothes. They will keep the luggage in claim check for the day. I'm not sure what the fee is if you didn't stay there before, but it was free to those who had stayed prior to the cruise. swisskris Posted September 17, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2007 We stayed at the Sheraton and paid around 200 USD however the Sofitel also has a hotel in Papeete and charges much less than the Sheraton. We wanted to stay at the Sofitel but it was closed for reno's
meherio Posted October 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2007 ia Orana Try the Airport Motel. However close to the airport, taking a taxi comes to mind if you have luggage. http://www.tahitiairportmotel.com/tam.html Another budget location ( with transportation ) http://www.fare-suisse.com/french/zimmer.php For the best deal for an ocean view room and a great black sand beach ( Lafayette Park where captain cook anchored) http://www.radisson.com/aruefrp. wristband Posted October 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2007 You should do a search on this board. Lots of fellow cruiser recs for brief overnights - from chains to independents downtown near the dock. Do take a moment to do the re-search to find many good options. Spikesgirl Posted October 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2007 We did enjoy our time at the Sheraton as well. We used it as a pre cruise hotel and were very pleased with the service, the food choices and the pool. It was also close to Papeete, which was nice as we walked into town a couple of times.
