The CASINO on RCCL Voyager of the Seas

Recommended Posts

It's almost impossible to get any detailed info concerning a ship's casino, so I thought I'd give a summary of the casino on Voyager of the Seas.

The casino is of decent size and of course open shortly after sailing. We generally closed it down at ~3 AM.

It has the usual array of slot machines and tables with Let it Ride, 3 card Poker, Caribbean Stud, 8 deck Black Jack, Craps, Roulette and one table surprisingly with one deck black jack. There is a non-smoking section which includes a table for a live game of Texas Hold'em - either $1-2 no limit or $5-10 limit. They also have slot, black jack, and Texas Holdem Tournaments - with the ship taking an excessive amount of the take, of course. The casino staff is, as is usual in most casinos, very friendly, and the women dealers very attactive.

The slot machines seemed very tight - even on the first couple nights when they usually loosen them up some. Announcements of jackpot winners were rare and usually only about $300.

The single deck black jack is a good table to play if only 2 or 3 players are there. They will deal several hands from the single deck. Black Jack pays 6-5 and you can't double down after a split. But if you have some counting abilities.......

The craps table had only single odds behind the line, except on two nights when they allowed double odds.

It was usually the same players at the Texas Holdem table, which was limited to 7 players. They would've opened up a second table if the demand was there. Players varied greatly in skill, and occasionally a newbie would try their luck. There were about 40 players in the tournament.

One very nice thing about the casino is that you can buy chips through your cruise card with no extra charges. That's like getting a cash advance from your credit card with no fees.

No free drinks of course, but the drink waiters are quite available.

All-in-all the casino was quite nice for a ship and a great alternative to the limited entertainment available elsewhere on the ship.
