Pier

Was in Progresso March of '06 and the pier area was under construction and was very difficult to navigate. Is the pier area any better now?

That pier is very busy with very heavy freight. It is probably a continueing maintenace effort. I was on the beach in June 06 and couldn't see any particular problem from my vantage.

:) HDAWSON, how long is the cruise pier? I am disabled from a stroke and can walk with a walker a short distance. Help!!!! I think that a long walk would wipe me out.

The pier is about 4 1/2 miles long but not to worry, the port has free shuttle busses that run back and forth about every 20 minutes or so...:)

You're welcome Jack. Hope you enjoy Progreso/Merida as much as we did. It's still old Mexico and hasn't been commercialized yet like some of the other ports in the area. Very friendly people.

 

I see that you are and ex grayhound sailor. I was a bubblehead myself. Maybe I'll see you on the beach one day.......:)
