C-U-ONBOARD Posted September 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2007 Now obviously I am bias, but I feel like this board hardly ever talks about the Elation, a few weeks back I thought it was just because the ship just got rerouted etc....but still...no one seems to have much to say about the Elation... So therefore, I am sending out a plea for secrets, tips, insight, opinions, anything about the Elation... Specific things I am interested in.....What do people think of Stuart Dunn (CD)? How was the Piano bar? Player? Where really "goes off"? Show opinions? Midnight buffet opinions? Anything basically....I sail in 19 days and need my daily fill.... Thanks in advance.... CruiseCentric Posted September 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2007 Its pretty much always been that way. The ships on the west coast dont get the same amount of attention as the ones sailing from the East and Gulf. Have you checked out the member reviews? http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=

Have you gone to the ROLL CALL board and found a roll call for your cruise? Any general things you read about any Fantasy class ship will apply to the Elation. SORRY, I JUST LOOKED AT YOUR ROLL CALL, NOT MUCH THERE. Dan
C-U-ONBOARD Posted September 7, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted September 7, 2007 I hadn't thought about the West coast vs East coast aspect, but that makes sense... I started my trips roll call and in several weeks only one other lonely soul cared to respond... This not being my first cruise (contrary to my title) I haven't been able to find much information that I didn't already know from sailing on the Pride last year.... We just got off the Elation 3 weeks ago. Let's see...don't really pay attention to the cd's but from what I do remember he seemed to be quite personable. :o We checked out the piano bar one night and it was dead. We have seen the big production shows on other cruises been there done that:cool: Didn't make it to the midnight buffet:cool: Here's what I can say........the casino was good to us;) The band in the Romeo and Juliet lounge were good. There was no adult pool area. Never had a problem getting a chair. This was our first cruise we did not go to formal.....actually we ate all week in the buffet. And I have to admit the food was pretty good. Had alot of the same soups as the dining room did. Had prime rib, shrimp.... It was actually nice eating at our own leasure. The crew on this ship was the best we have had in years. From our cocktail server, cabin steward to the casino host. Really went above and beyond for us. And as always Cabo was awesome (my fav) Hope that helps a little:o Oh and one more thing.......San Diego is the best port to sail out of in my opinion. C-U-ONBOARD Posted September 7, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted September 7, 2007 Thanks for the insight, I have consistantly heard good things about the crew, which is nice to hear. I am born and raised in San Diego so I am DEFINETLY bais on San Diego, but I too think its an awesome port to sail out of.... Thanks again..... JesJ Posted September 7, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 7, 2007 I would take this as an opportunity to go on this trip without an unbiased opinion...Sometimes too much information can be a bad thing... 2 people can go on the exact same trip and one can have the time of their lives and another can think the trip was ok, or the worst trip they've ever had...Just depends on the person... I am on the Elation in 15 days!!
cathyz Posted September 7, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 7, 2007 Some of us west coasters are here! We'll be on the Elation in March so don't have anything to report yet. A co-worker was on the Elation a couple of weeks go and had a great time, of course, it was his first cruise so nothing to compare to.

I sailed on the Elation in Feb. out of Port Canaveral but I can tell you what my experince was like. First of all I have been on the Inspiration and Fascination in this class of ship and I thought that the Elation was more tastefully decorated in comparison. The CD Stuart seemed tired and bored on my cruise but he still made an effort to sound upbeat and at times was pretty funny. He dresses up in a disco outfit during some of the shows and comes out on the stage in roller skates. He was not very sociable, at least not on my cruise, when he was seen out and about during the cruise but as mentioned above he seemed tired or bored? Don't know if the same piano player is still in the piano bar but the lady during my cruise was not that great. Her playing was fine but she could not sing very well and had a hard time getting a repore going with the audience. Also, the shows on the Elation have to be the cheesiest shows I have seen on a cruise ship and I generally enjoy the shows but the comedian was funny. The midnight buffet and the food in general was VERY VERY good on the Elation as was the service in the dining room. She is a nice clean ship and the addition of the mini golf course is a nice touch. Great sushi bar on the Elation if you like that sort of thing and the kareoke sp? was very good. Didn't like the art auction though and I have enjoyed it on my other cruises. Overall though had an awesome time on the Elation and I know that you will too! Happy cruising!
crusinmama06 Posted September 7, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 7, 2007 I think the above posters are right. We used to talk alot about Elation while it was on the East Coast. I loved the cruise we had done on her in December...better than Sensation (sorry Sensation lovers). The decor was more subdued than the screaming purple on Sensation. I do have a member review posted from that cruise and here are some pictures from it.
tecateme Posted September 7, 2007 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2007 I believe Stuart was the CD on our Ecstasy cruise last fall. He does wear the roller skates and the disco outfit. He sounded like he was from Australia or New Zealand. He had spikey blonde hair. He was a lot of fun.
