My fance and I sail October 14th the day after our wedding. She does not have her passport. Is a cruise to Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize and costa maya do able without her passport. The cruise line peopel keep saying yes there is no problems at all, I just odn't know how much faith I put in that. She deson't want to get it yet as she will have to change it soon after the cruise anyway for her new last name and she just wated to put it off till then to get it. Anyone have problems with not having a passport while cruising?

It's fine for your October cruise, you won't need a passport at all for a cruise vacation until 2008 (I think, unless they recently changed it again). You will need your original birth certificate, with the imprinted seal, and photo ID. Have a great cruise, and congrats on your wedding! My sister was married on October 14th, a beautiful time of year.

We just cruised Carnival with friends (3 weeks ago) and those with us did not have a passport, just birth certicates with photo IDs. No problem at all.

Just make sure it is a real birth certificate with a raised seal. There is a thread going on at the RCCL board right now where a bride didn't look at her birth certificate until the night before they left and it was a birth registration/not actual certificate with a seal.

So look now and make sure she has the right one.

You will be ok going on your cruise...the only issue is if she would get ill and have to fly back from an island...she will have a hard time getting back into the US. This was my concern on my recent cruise but we all got passports before we went.

going is not the problem...its if there is an emergency...

many happy wishes for your upcoming wedding!
