Thomson Calypso port changes

We sail On Ocober 1 and have already been informed of 2 port changes. The first change was about 10 days ago when Kotor, Montenegro was substituted for Albania. Bit disappointed as Albania would have been a new country to us, but not too bothered.

However yesterday another letter arrived with another change this time Constanta is taken off and instead we sail directly to Istanbul from Sevastopol.

Thomson say the beaches at Mamaiia will be closed by then so they think a night in Istanbul will compenaste.(the ship is docked for a full day in Istanbul as well).

Thomsons brochure desciription of Constanta has a small mention of beaches but concentrates mainly on archaeological sites , the city itself ,and Bucharest.

We were looking forward to Constanta especially as it will be 26 years since I last visited.

A night in Istanbul is of no interest whatsoever to us. Doesn't Thomson ever think that a cruise is picked for its itinerary!!!

Thomsons have as yet offered no recompense.

Hope nothing else changes but we will still have a good holiday:)

Hi- hope you have no more disappointments, but I feel they are probably acting on feedback, as the two ports they have "dropped" were not very popular. However, it is interesting to see completely new places on a cruise that you probably wouldn't go to otherwise. Our cruise was the first to use Kotor instead of Durres, and it was generally very well received. Kotor is beautiful, especially the sailaway. They did offer an excursion to Albania from Corfu, maybe this will be the case for you?

Constanta was mildly interesting, mainly to see how Eastern European counties are developing, but Istanbul is amazing. It looked so lovely as we sailed past on the way to Nesebar, we took no photos because we didn't want to miss anything getting the camera. We would have loved to see it properly at night time. I'm sure you will have a great cruise, they still have Constanta on the summer itinerary next year!
