Visiting Progresso for the first time the last week in Sept on Glory!

I've viewed hdawson's photos, I'm impressed! It looks so clean as well.

Looking for suggestions on what to do on our first visit, especially since we still don't know our port times yet.

Is it safe to venture out on our own, two adults mid 50's.

I've researched www.yucatantoday.com and I think I'd like to swim in a cenote!

We'd like to try some authentic Mexican food and find some authentic Mexican souvenier's if they exist! Most of the ports have become so commericalized!

My main concern with a first visit to a port is scheduling and time management, don't want to miss the ship!

I also was interested in Reef Beech Club but after view hdawson's photos it looks much more interesting exploring the culture!

I used to enjoy strolling in Cozumel, but its gotten out of hand with the commercialization and aggressiveness of the locals.

One downfall, we don't speak a lick of Spanish.

We don't have much time to research as we sail next Sat. 9/22.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Susan
