Crown and Anchor for Kids

"A FLIP for kids traveling on cruises. Royal Caribbean now gives them a Crown and Anchor number."

Has anyone else stumbled across this new information? I found it on a web site that is used by travel agents under an area called "Flips and Flops".

I wonder if will RCCL credit previous cruises the child may have taken??

This has been going on now for a while. But the problem is signing up for it on line.I tried to sign my granddaughters up but no luck I ended up calling C&A and they were very helpful. My granddaughters now have a number and it is on our reservations for November. When I talked to C&A about their credits they said that the GDS will be giving the same credits. My problem with that is We take the GDS on the cruises and they have more cruises then their parents.

I have applied also for my 15 yr old GD (who has lived with me since age 9), she received her C&A # and was made Diamond status (which is what we are) and I was also told that if she has a balcony or above cabin in her name with someone else, she will receive the Diamond discounts for that cabin. We will be cruising on the Freedom in 3 weeks, it will be interesting to see what type coupon books she gets. The last cruise on the Liberty (June 07) she did get a sticker on her sea pass card that said Diamond member, but she didn't receive any gift, coupon books, or anything for being a Diamond! icon8.gif

SRY the one line should be ,they will be given the same credits as their parents.

They are credited by who's HOUSEHOLD they reside at. In my case my GD resides with me. My son and daughter also became my status at age 18, since they lived at home.

Did you ask about this while on board? We have signed our kids up, and are going next March on VOS. We had to call the C&A number to get it done- didn't work online. They stated that the kids will receive a coupon book, also, and will be at our level, which is Platinum. Did they tell you something different on board? Just curious.

On line sign up was obviously a failure. We tried twice.

Persistence appears to be the key , otherwise they would have set up a system that worked.

Emailed C&A and they took care of it, but they needed a lot of info.

Got the numbers for the kids with a caution that they may not be recognized in the system for a while due to some change in their software.

I emailed C&A to get my GD registered and to get the C&A number she was issued. That all was done through the email. When we took our first cruise( not really our 1st cruise, just the one after she was issued her number) after she was assigned the C&A number, they did apply a diamond sticker to her sea pass card when we got on the Liberty in June. While I was booking our next cruise onboard, I ask the Loyal Ambassador, how the kids C&A worked. She explained they receive the same status as the person in their household has. They also will receive discounts, such as balcony cabin discounts for the status, along with coupon books, etc. My GD has yet to receive any coupon books, assuming they are kids coupon books, she may be too old (almost 16) to enjoy the coupons they offer. I also had read somewhere in CC that they receive coloring books and crayons, but then again, it is not something she would of been interested in. I will have to see what she gets on the Freedom in 3 weeks.

pmshirl- If you don't mind, let us know how it turns out when you get back. If she doesn't get a book when you get yours when you board, I would definately ask, because we are all being told that is one of the perks. I would love to hear what the kids coupon book contains, if it is really different. Maybe she could get an adult one, if the kid one doesn't have anything in there that she likes, minus the 2-for-1 bar drinks and casino credit, of course:D .

We just returned from the Mariner last Sunday, my son is Diamond+.

While he did have a coupon book in the cabin when we boarded the ship, I personally think they are nothing to get excited over.

He got his gift the same time I got mine. Over 9 years of age, and the kids should get a messenger bag. Under 9 and they get a crayola gift. So the gift thing was nice.

The coupons consist of:

an arcade credit - you purchase so much and get another $4 or 5 free

10% of a youth spa treatment

Buy one get one Ben and Jerry's peace pop

Purchase an airbrush tattoo and get free shimmer added to it

buy one pay per view movie, get one free

4 or 5 Del Sol coupons.... one is a free without purchase the others you have to spend a chunk to get something.

then in the back of the book, there is some puzzles and stuff like you would see on a kid's menu in your local resteraunt.

There was no difference in coupon books for different status levels.

The coupon book was pretty worthless. Thge only one my kids used was the 10 free minutes of internet in the Teen Room.

When I tried to sign my 13-yr-old granddaughter up for C&A I was told only a parent or guardian could do it so her mother handled it over the phone. Then she lost the number and I called C&A and they gave it to me without any hassle and affirmed that my daughter's C&A number was affixed to our reservations.

On our August cruise on Empress my granddaughter received the teen coupon book and also one of the adult books just like mine. I don't think we used any of the youth coupons.

She got the messenger bag which she loved and carried around every day. I got the pleather frame.:p

Gotta love how we all complain about something that is FREE! :D

If DD uses even ONE of the coupons on our next cruise, it will be more than if RCCI did not have a youth C&A program -- right?

I was thinking the same thing. Heck you can't get anything over at Carnival unless you've been on 10 cruises...not 10 credits but 10 CRUISES.

And persistence is the key. You do have to call them and get the numbers to link with the reservation.

Since I have 3 kids, I guess the buy-one-get-one free would work, but it does seem kind of lame. However, that is how many of the adult coupons work. Oh well, as others have posted, at least it is something.

However, the messenger bag does seem really useful. Does anyone have a picture of one?
