locruise Posted September 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2007 I cannot wait to go again Saturday boarding: We got up around 8 30, did some running around San Diego got some water and went to the mall for a little bit, took a cab to the cruise termianl got there around 12 and were sitting on the Lido deck at 12:30pm. It was truly amazing Staff on the Elation: WOW WOW WOW. The stewards, the waitstaff, Carlos and Ivan, the casino staff, the Pursers, the dancers, the Cruise staff and cruis director Strewart Dunn was great. They go out of their way to remember your names, to remember what drink you drink, ever night at dinner are soda;s where waiting and most of all where always courteous and very helpful. Stateroom: We had booked a ocean view M262; LOTS of closet and drawer space; bathroom was small, but certainly ok for the amount of time you spend in there. . We had 2 robes hanging in the closet for us - really nice and comfortable terry cloth material. Lots of lights in the room - one on each side of the bed, one over the mirror above the desk, . Room safe worked well though it was small and we only used it to put our passports and few other small incidentals in. TV was fine - CNN and a few stations from Denver as well as the many "Carnival" channels. Room service was awesome had some great stuff. Casino: Great time in there. All of the dealers were very friendly and helpful if you didn't understand any of the table games offered. I won at BINGO wahooooooooooo Sail and Sign card: Worked really well. . You present your card for everything - when you order a drink, when you purchase something in the shops, you insert it into the slot machine (although cash works in the slot machines and tables too). Food: Wow. It was absolutely wonderful. We ate in the diningroom every night including the formal night. No complaints at all. Great variety, great recommendations from the waitstaff and superb service. We chose the early seating (6:15pm) and never felt rushed. Formal night was fun Lido deck food at Tiffany's was good - we ate breakfast and some lunches there. There was something for everyone to choose from that's for sure. Shows: WAHOOOOOO this was the best part, loved every minutes of every show. Had a great time being part of the legends show (yes I was Madonna) Disembarkation: We where off the shop and to our hotel by 10 15 and we where group number 19 THIS CRUISE IS AMAIZING AND I WOULD CRUISE CARNIVAL ANYTIME :p :p :p :p :p :p Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. locruise Posted September 18, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks for the review.....we are in single digits for our Elation cruise.... What did you think of the CD? Any feedback? Also, did you hit up the piano bar? Disco? Thanks in advance and glad you had a good time.... The CD is Stewart Dunn he is from Austrila, he was great, some people complained about his accent but I just loved it. I went to his excurision take and debrakion talk, thought he knew what he was doing. Piano bar is fun, small though. Not sure who will be playing as Damien last cruise was our cruise. The disco was OK really smokey though. Please let me know what you think when you come back.
missjanet Posted September 18, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks for the positive review! We leave NJ 5 weeks from today for our Elation cruise with our daughter & her husband - can hardly wait to be onboard having a great time. You've made me even more anxious to be there!! If you've got any photos, please let us see them, especially if you did any sightseeing or excursions off the ship. Thanks again. Janet
JesJ Posted September 18, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2007 Thank you for the great review!! We leave for the elation this saturday... We were on the Paradise just over 2 years ago and we loved the intimacy that the ship offered. We found a bartender who took care of us all weekend, we never had to order our drinks nor show our card and out sail & Sign account was exactly right!! We went on the Spirit a few months after that and although it was a fantastic ship and it was one of our best vacations, the bigger ship didn't offer the same intimacy that the Paradise did. I'm really hoping that this trip on the elation is similar to the Paradise trip!!! Wow, I can hardly wait 4 more days!!

It was great to get a glimpse of the ship & some of the things on it, like the Sushi Bar, which I'm anxious to visit. Loved the towel animal & plate of "Good Night" treats - lucky you!! I've never sailed on a ship that had a midnight buffet & if your photos are any indication of what we can expect, I am excited - everything looked delicious. And you all looked like you were having a terrific time - lots of smiles all around. My email address is: shower@kast.org in case you can scan in those Capers. I'd love to see what's going on while we're onboard. Only 5 weeks from today until we sail!! Thanks again for the time you've put into these posts. kgarroutte Posted September 21, 2007 #24 Share Posted September 21, 2007 My DH and another couple are saying on 11/3, I'm already counting down!!! I just wanted to give everyone a head's up on a terrific company for an excursion, if you are going to Cabo off the Elation. We used them last year when we were in Cabo and were highly impressed. We went snorkeling and kayaking (really inexpensive, $60/pp) but what great service we had. We kayaked to the Arch and had a terrific time. I'm always nervous using a company I'm not familiar with, but this was fantastic. We are going with them again on their 3 Bay excursion in November. The company's website is www.bajawild.com I am not affiliated, but do like to pass on names of reputable companies to help others feel comfortable in their choices. As for Ensenada we got these great tips off other threads and plan on using them... "Riviera Pacifica previously a hotel and casino, now used for cultural events. A Mariachi Band will serenade you as you sip a complimentary beverage and view crafts made by local artisans. Enter into the Grand Ballroom for a Mexican Folkloric show featuring singers, dancers and, of course, the Mariachis! Dressed in colorful costumes, the cast will introduce you to several Mexican regions through song and dance." Both my daughters dance Folklorico so I hope we can see this. I am presuming we can go to this without having to be part of an official group , if not, we'll just go shopping. We plan on taking taxis or walking everywhere in Ensenada. "Walk up the main street and when you get to the corner where Papas&Beer is, turn right up the little side street and about a 1/2 block up opposite side of street from Papas&Beer there is a GREAT little hole in the wall tacqueria with a counter to sit at while the family cooks over an open fire behind the counter" "If you simply wish to wander around town, a visit to the old city prison is worth a stop. The museum displays Aztec artifacts and a look around the old cells reinforces that Mexican jails were an unpleasant place to be a prisoner." Also, some good reviews on this spa for enexpensive massages email at "Massages and Facials" spatherapy@hotmail.com I've been collecting little tid bits about Ensenada. The info is hard to find because there is no specific thread for Ensenada. I have read alot of posts that are negative saying "stay on the boat" but I've collected enough suggestions that I think we'll have a great time. It's not a 1/2 block down it is right across the street from Papas & Beers. 2 doors down from Mango Mangos. It is called Taqueria Mexico Lindo. My favorite taco place:D Home made tortillas are awesome.
