NorCalCruiseGuy Posted September 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2007 Which term do you use, and why?
C 2 C Posted September 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2007 It depends whether I'm going steerage in an inside cabin or splurging in my CC stateroom.
MEcruzr Posted September 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2007 For me, it depends on who I'm talking to. I'll say cabin to my "cabin mates" but when I'm at the Guest Relations counter I'll say stateroom. I don't know why, I think it's because the ship's people call them staterooms, but to me they're cabins. Never thought about it much before. lol

spearmint Posted September 21, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I use "cabin", "stateroom" or "room"......it simply depends on what pops into my head and then out of the mouth! I also use "attendant" or "steward" attached to any of the above, as well, and for the same reason. I am getting old....my memory isn't always consistent!!:D:D:D
richsea Posted September 21, 2007 #12 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I may either, but I usually type "cabin" because it's shorter!
flag fan Posted September 22, 2007 #13 Share Posted September 22, 2007 I use "cabin" usually. Its more nautical and "stateroom" sounds a little pretentious or like a marketing ploy (as opposed to just "room," which I sometimes use).
mii Posted September 22, 2007 #14 Share Posted September 22, 2007 Frankly I use both in different situations. I also use "room" alot, especially if I am somewhere else on the ship and I will say to DH, "hey I am going back to the room for a nap";) Marilyn
