Travelodge in Barcelona?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone stayed at the Barcelona Travelodge? We want to go a few days early and stay as cheap as possible, but we want to stay safe and clean at the same time. Does anyone know if this is possible at this hotel? Does anyone out there have any other hotel suggestions? :o

I stayed for four nights (solo) at the Hotel Apsis Splendid. I was there in November and paid 65 euros/night. It might be higher if you're going during high season.

It's in a safe and quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bakeries. The hotel staff is very friendly and speak English well. There is also free internet on the second floor (but there's only one computer). The rooms are a bit small, but it's clean and so is the bathroom. The closest metro station is the Universitat and it's literally less than a minute walk around the corner. It's also 10 minutes walk to Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas, go in another direction on Paseig de Gracia for 15 minutes and you're at Casa Batllo, walk in yet another directin for 10 minutes and you're at Placa Espanya.

Oh, if you decide to stay here then ask for a room facing the courtyard. Streetview is nothing spectacular (it's an ordinary neighborhood) and can get noisy during rush hour and early morning w/ trash and delivery trucks.
