Dave Mck Posted September 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2007 My mother may be taking my kids to the butterfly farm for a while we are in Key West. I was wondering if there were any good bars close to the farm that we can go to while the kids are there?

"Good" in Key West is usually pretty subjective, but there is a "Close" bar right across the street and one block south - the Duval Beach Club. EricaLovesCats Posted September 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2007 You could go to LaTeDa.
Cruzaholic41 Posted September 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2007 You could go to LaTeDa. In my opinion, La Te Da has the best Martinis in Key West. If you are looking for "bad," the Scrub Club is right around the corner.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted September 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2007 Just a minor point. The Butterfly Conservatory is not really a "farm". It is more like a very large aviary with butteflies instead of birds. There are some very small birds there too. There is a very pretty little stream in it and a lovely path that winds around. I'm not sure how much time you want to spend at the bar, but you probably won't have time for more than one drink.
peter_krynicki Posted September 22, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2007 The Duval Beach Club. This place needs a good overhauling...
dablondebabe Posted October 2, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Duval Beach Club, now the Southernmost Beach Cafe...an upgrade from the old bar...and is right down the street. La Te Da is a nice place to people watch and have a cocktail and is only a few blocks away. You can also wander into the bar at the Southernmost Hotel....great Pina Coladas! Cathey Posted October 25, 2007 #16 Share Posted October 25, 2007 Not much of a bar. About as big as a diningroom table and quite as a snail. We were there last week, stayed 2 nights at the hotel. I would drop the kids off at the butterfly place and look in back of me and the Southernmost is right there. Walk past the lobby and into the pool area and hit the Tiki bar for a cold drink and a dip in the pool. They have and outdoor shower, but you will need a key to use the outdoor bathrooms to change. Across the street is the beach cafe, like I said it's a very small bar may be 6 stools. You could use the beach, but they charge $5 per chair during the day. Southernmost just aquired "Santa Maria Hotels", right nextstore to SM@beach, you could try there for a drink anda dip. Enjoy.
