Seattle embarkation

We just disembarked the Diamond yesterday 8/28/04. We took the advice of those on the board that had already sailed the Diamond out of Seattle and arrived at Terminal 30 at 10:30 am. The last few passengers from the previous sailing were still disembarking the ship. The dock workers immediately took our luggage and check-in was a breeze. Hardly anyone there but we weren't the first and it started filling up by 11 am. At about 11 am, the first group of about 40 passengers, including us, were ushered into another area, where we waited until about 11:30 am, at which time we were allowed to embark. Very happy we came early. We talked to others who complained that between 12 noon to 1 pm, it was very crowded, with long lines. And as far as debarkation, they begain calling tags about 7:30 am. We had a 12:25 pm flight and although our red tags had been called we waited to disembark at 8:20 am and still arrived at the airport at 9:15, even with the time it took to go through customs and gather our luggage on the dock. We took a taxi to the airport, which took all of 20 minutes.

We are back x 1 day from the Sapphire 8/22-8/29 (more on our experiences later!). We arrived early at the pier and were on the ship by 11 am. Both embakation and disembarkation went very smoothly, including customs. We didn't go for the express option since our flight was at 1:30. Our estimated assigned time to exit the ship was at 9:20 am. By that time we were off the ship and through security at the airport. It couldn't have gone any better!
Oh, and our cab fare (without tip) was $23 to the airport. In my opinion, this is the way to leave the pier. The people with the Princess transfers were waiting on their bus to fill before they leave. Happy traveling.
