Passport ???

We mailed 2 applications out the same day. just got e-mail conformation that one is completed and being mailed the other still shows in process. Is it typical that they are at different stages of processing? Should I be concerned and contact someone?

This happened to us as well. Two renewal applications sent in on the same day, but one was processed and received a few days earlier than the other.

 

If you have the luxury of time, I'd give it a week or so before you call.

This seems to be normal. We applied for two passport renewals at the same time. I'm not sure where they separated, but one passport arrived in 14 days (no expedited) and the other arrived 2 weeks later.

 

If you are concerned about them arriving late, email the passport office. You will get an email back telling you the status of the application. You can also call. You'll talk to a live person, and they will be able to track your application.

They may have landed on different desks. One could be more closely scrutinized if the name is the same as a person who has an outstanding warrant (even an old unpaid parking ticket), is behind on child support payments or whose name is similar to a felon not eligible for a passport.

 

They don't just get the application and put the info on a passport and mail it back out. You are investigated to some extent, which is the whole reason for the Govt. wanting people to have passports to return to the country.

 

I'd give it a couple of weeks before you call to check.
