AZCAMM Posted September 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2007 ...because we are throwing a 50th birthday party for my husband's sister and since we all could not afford to go on a real cruise I am doing the birthday party "Lido Deck" cruise themed party. I've been painting for 2 days port holes with blue ocean and sky in the bkground. I've even cut out the little pictures of Carnival ships from an old brouchere and taped them to the port holes so that it looks like another cruise ship is passing by. I plan on taping these large pieces of painted paper to the sides of our fence out in the backyrd to give the impression we are on a boat. It's alot of fun doing this but very exhausting. We are planning on putting a tv/vcr combo out in the patio and play the Carnival travelog videos for more atmosphere! Am I crazy or what ?

AZCAMM Posted September 27, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Oh man!!!! I spend some time on the internet looking but could not find cruise ship themes. We are also doing the Mexician Riv. theme w/drinks, decorations and music. Like the sail away party on the lido deck. Wish it were really happening tho'. Thats a pretty cool idea, as far as not able to afford to go on a real cruise, you can book a 3 or 4 day cruise out of Long Beach or San Diego. OceanDreamin Posted September 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Those things are called "Scene Setters." Funny enough, I discovered them when I was looking for decorations for my door for our Mexican Riviera cruise in April. Your party sounds like a whole lot of fun! Can I come? LOL:)

AZCAMM Posted September 28, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Hey you guys, I have one more porthole to paint then thinking about doing a Welcome Aboard sign but I am soooo tired right now so who knows. Maybe tomorrow. I have the cruise bug so bad. I keep looking at webshots and other sites to see other's cruise pix. I do want to start working on getting passports for myself and hubby. I will be taking pix of the party and hope to be able to post them here.
