Atlantis

Best thing to do is get off the ship and take a taxi over to Atlantis. Its only 8 dollars roundtrip and they take you right to the front door!

or, if you haven't had enough water, they have some very old ferry boats that take through the channell to the dock on the other side, then it's a short pleasant walk to Atlantis. We did the ferry once and actually ended up in a Limo the second time in Nassau, and that got us a guided tour of the whole area including Atlantis. A taxi probably is the best option.

I am trying to figure out the best way to get to the Atlantis Resort when we stop in Nassau. How long does it take and what is the cost?

How long does it take to see the resort?

I have been to Atlantis 3 times now. Once I took the water taxi over, this was a HUGE mistake. The boat was over crowded, over priced, and doesn't drop you off anywhere close to the entrance! We still had a 10 minute walk over. I am not sure if all water taxis are like this, but I was burned.

I also recommend you to take a taxi over. It's $4.00 per person each way. The taxi vans can be a little crowded, but it is a short ride.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree with chrisp. The first time we went to Atlantis, we did the water taxi ($3 each way) and it was overcrowded, the boat was smoking  and I spent the whole time wondering if we were going into the water...lol. Then the water taxi drops you off blocks away at the dock.

The 2nd time we went to Atlantis, we got off the ship, walked right inside the buiding to the taxi desk. $4 per person later we were on our way and dropped off at the front door of Atlantis about 5-10 minutes later. It's a quick trip.

You say you want to "see the resort". Only guests at Atlantis (or Comfort Suites next door) can actually walk through the entire property. Non-guests can go to the casino and shops in the hotel. But you won't have access to the Dig/Aquarium/Pools/Slides/Beach/etc

We get around this by booking Atlantis for the night. When the ship docks, we take the taxi over...check in at the hotel, get our wristbands and spend the day as guests of Atlantis.

You can book Comfort Suites for as low as $139...Atlantis starts at about $179 during a SALE.

Here are some of our pics from last month....

The resort is HUGE, take comfy shoes and bring bottled water! It's hot, hot, hot walking around there, but you can always stop and jump in one of the pools or the lazy river to cool down. My kids absolutely loved Atlantis (we rented a room at the comfort suites for the say, $180 for all 4 of us with passes to Atlantis). We really enjoyed our day there, but I'll never forget how much walking we did.

We took a taxi there, no way would I take one of those water taxi's, they look like accidents waiting to happen.

Crusinmama is exactly correct. You will need to pay to see the facility. If you do not want to pay the $139, you can pay $34pp and visit the "the dig" and walk around the outside of the area as well as the pavilion, etc. You will not have access to the amenities though.

We were on the Valour last Nov 2006 and toured the Atlantis. We got off the ship and we met up by a local fellow on the pier who charged $25.00 a head to take us on a walking tour of the grounds. It was incredible. He knew so much about this resort, took us all over the grounds, inside, around the pools, casino, lobby and to the aquarium, etc.. He drove us up/down streets around the island, stopped at a local tourist spot to shop and back to the ship later.

He drove a small toyota bus thing, and held about 10 people (full) - He spoke very clear, and he sure knew his island paradise!!

He was GREAT!

This sound like the same guy that took us this go around. Although we paid the same price, that did not include the aquarium tour. Did you get to actually go downstairs into "the dig"?

To clarify, many do not know that the aquarium in the lobby is not the only one they have. Not saying that you didnt know this, just wanted to point it out for others.

We booked a room at the Atlantis for the day. Perfect for a family of 3 and a 2 year old that might need a nap. And a mommy that will love taking a bath vs. a shower on the ship.

My question is this, how much WOULD it have been to do everything there, all the amenities and the Dig?

If you went for the day passes.. they run $150pp and $75 for kids. You're 2 y/o might be free.. I'm not sure.

We stopped at Atlantis a couple weeks ago on the Carnival Liberty. We were able to walk around the grounds (all but the dig) with no problem. We walked out the doors above the indoor aquarium & all around outside. We were able to go by the pools, slides, lazy river, beaches, etc. Nobody ever asked if we were guests there.
