We just noticed that my wife's passport expired last year, and we a short on time to get it renewed. I went on RCI website to find out some info and they tate that a Gov. issued ID would be okay?? I went on the Gov. site for passport info anr the rules are different, ir travel vs sea travel???

As long as you are traveling by sea a valid state issued ID (i.e. driver's license) AND a birth certificate (a real one, not the one from the hospital with the little footprints) is all you'll need so long as you return before January 1, 2008. If your vacation will go over into the New Year (for instance, you leave on New Year's Eve and return after 1/1/08) you will need a passport.

I am in the same situation and have been assured by my travel agent that I will be fine.
