This is our first convertible, so we have nothing noisier to compare it to. :p It's got a 'whistle' at high speeds. Not loud enough that you can't drown it out with a CD, but it's annoying at times.

 

I don't blame you for missing that car! It's really awesome.

 

The whistle might be something the dealer could fix. Sounds like there's some kind of gap in the weatherstripping or something which is letting air come in. I've had two LeBaron convertibles and three Sebring convertibles and never had that problem. If I'm up to about 80 on the interstate, there'll be a little exterior wind noise, but you can have that even in a non-convertible.

 

The MGA needed an axle and some minor work, and the first wife didn't like the car anyway because it wasn't practical and it left her to do most of the soccer mom things (which was sort of the point LOL) and pressured me into selling it and getting a new 79 Olds Starfire hatchback..... which was sporty, but fell apart after ten years and had to be junked.... whereas the MGA would have appreciated in value.

 

Sigh, freaking sigh.

 

I'll probably drive my 2004 Sebring convertible until it either falls apart or until I'm judged to be too old to be allowed on the streets. I've had it since July of 2003 and it only has 25,000 miles, so it should be good for quite a while longer.

As long as we're bragging -- here's my '58 vette. Sold it after my son arrived to pay for college. Still a good trade I think.

 

 

My first car was a 1947 Packard four-door sedan which my parents paid $50 for to keep me from driving their cars after I had wrecked three of them. I once got six speeding tickets in four weeks, with one of them being for exceeding the posted speed by 70 miles an hour..... 95 in a 25 mph zone....but, hey, it was 3:30 a.m.

 

Anyway, the Packard was so big and clunky it took about ten minutes to get from 0 to 60 and every time you would hit a bump, the keys would fall out of the ignition. The only good part was that it had a humongous back seat. :p

I LOVE my Sebring convertible!! I had one, sold it when I was having DD (afraid she might blow out!) then just this Spring DH found me another one that is similar in color (actually cooler) metallic green with tan interior and top! I wouldn't trade it for anything!:D :D

 

And although this is the Martini thread, I have it on good authority that a 1/2 keg will fit in the trunk. This car has a massive trunk! Back seat, just average!:rolleyes:

Mine is "champagne satin" or whatever they're calling tan these days, with a tan top and tan leather seats and burled mahogany dash. My soon to be ex-wife has the 2001 Limited Sebring convertible which came in baby blue with a dark blue top.

 

The trunk is indeed large, but the backseat is much larger than almost any other convertible. Also, the fact that it has six cylinders gives it that extra pick-up and passing zip.

 

I'm very pleased with mine, too.

On S and S 2, I was in the casino and a very attractive woman in her 30s was hitting on me and rubbing up against me and stuff. She was obviously drunk almost to the point of falling down to be even contemplating such a thing (I guess there's a female equivalent of "beer goggles") and I nobly wished her luck at the table and went on my way. I told myself I would never be that desperate as to take advantage of a woman like that.

 

What a difference a year makes. :rolleyes:
