JosieRhodes Posted October 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Do the kids programs ever take the kids skating? I'm asking because I haven't ice skated in years, and I'm currently doing PT (physical therapy) for a hip injury... and its been a real pain to rehabilitate it enough so I can run pain free... that I started thinking I don't want to risk another fall (gee, that makes me sound old . My husband and parents don't want to ice skate, but I want the kids to try it if they want. I guess I will end up doing it anyhow, along with the inline skating, but wondering if these are offered through kids programs, and I could just watch? Also, since I think there is a running track on the Explorer, is it still ok to run on the lower promenade deck too... (wishful thinking on my part right now until I get better) Thanks for any input, procrastinating from doing work..... and thinking about a cruise that is MONTHS MONTHS in the future
CRUIZINMOMMANJ Posted October 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2007 No swimming - no skating. Safety/liability reasons is what we were told. I wanted my daughter to be able to do it - I just had arm surgery - so wasnt about to attept - so it didnt happen - she enjoyed the show just as much though... Have fun anyway!! jzerocsk Posted October 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2007 I could have sworn that on one of the days that the ice rink was available there were a couple "learn to ice skate" sessions. I'll have to go back and double check the compasses.
Sue L Posted October 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Just make sure you pack long pants if the kids do plan to skate because they are required.
jzerocsk Posted October 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2007 In fact I just checked the Compasses scanned in at cafekarina.org and there is an "Explorer Academy Learn To Skate - Kids" at noon on Day 8 that you have to sign up for in advance. Rare JSR Posted October 2, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Bring gloves too. You can always go to the rink and ask someone to help your kids. My daughter 11 skates several times a week at home and is always willing to help kids skate. Heck she used to hug the wall too when she started. Just ask.
