Distance from Port in Barcelona to airport

Recommended Posts

I am trying to book a cruise for November 2008. I am checking out the air fares and see that some leave Barcelona at 12:50 p.m. I am not sure if this will be enough time from port to the airport. Can anyone help with this? What time can you get off the boat? I have been on several cruises (all caribbean) but I am not sure if a Med cruise is different.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jenn

IME, that's plenty of time, provided the ship docks early morning as most do.

The port and airport are fairly close - about a 20 - 30 minute ride depending on traffic. If you are traveling on a weekday, just keep in mind that you'll be on some major thoroughfares with people commuting.

The taxi ride was 25 Euro; there is a surcharge for bags. Taxis are generally available, but there may be short waits if you get off at peak times.

I sailed RCI and used there self debarkation option where I carried my own bags. I was off the ship just before 7 and at the airport by 730.

Keep in mind that check-in lines can be long, and you will have to go through security and customs and / or immigration. These were well run and the lines were much shorter than the US, but I imagine they too can get long.

The biggest difference to me in the debarkation process between the Caribbean and the Med is that you do not to customs / immigration right when you debark at the port.

Did you also embark your ship at Barcelona? Does the taxi take you right at the docks or did you still have to walk a bit farther? Is there only one dock in Barcelona? Would they know where to take you if you just said port? Does any of you know if you are also able to book private transfers upon your arrival at the airport to take you to the port? Any suggestions for a private transfer that will also give you a quick tour of Barcelona perhaps a stop or two for photos prior to transferring you to the ship? Thank you very much for any advice.

Did you also embark your ship at Barcelona?

Yes.

Does the taxi take you right at the docks or did you still have to walk a bit farther?

The taxi will take you right to the pier; no extra walking.

Is there only one dock in Barcelona?

No, there are 2 - Port Vell and Moll Adossat. Most larger cruise ships leave from Moll Adossat.

Would they know where to take you if you just said port?
It depends 1) on how well they speak English and 2) because of the complication above. It shouldn't be a problem, especially if you use the name of the ship.

Cant't help with this - sorry. Maybe someone else will know.
