as most of you know dh gave me a one night cruise on the spirit for my bday.. we went saturday and it was great!!! i'll try to keep this short but doubt i will..we arrived semi-early at the pier so we had a wait but that was ok we checked in and just relaxed. the amount of sniffing dogs and police didn't freak me out being from around here it actually made me feel better, i knew they were taking all steps to keep me safe.. we were onboard by 12 and lunch was ready..we did eat in raffles although the others were open since we were one of the first on there were no lines and plenty of tables. after lunch we took a quick walk to see if anything changed and than just relaxed on a chair to enjoy the view.. which by the way was interesting, as much as i am in the city and love this area watching people kayak in the hudson river blows my mind!! i wouldn't risk swimming in that water but to each their own and like i said they gave me something to watch. promptly at 2 we were in our rooms this was our first balcony and it was great! nice size and everything was clean. again promptly at 4 we sailed we enjoyed the barbecue and the party began for the college kids! julie was the cd which i was happy about she was our first one also. i relayed a message to her from my daughters and it made her feel good. this was her last cruise here for a year she is doing the europen cruise..passing the statue of liberty was great as usual. after that we just shopped a little and waited for the casino to open. i did pretty good on the nickel slots ahead a couple of hundred dh did good at 3 card poker also. it started to get very crowded so we decided to get something to eat and shower. when we came back down we stayed out on deck and just enjoyed the view of nothing! i can sit on deck at night with nothing to see but the stars for hours! we went back into the casino which was an error on my part since i had a full stomache and the water was a little rough! something about the front lower end of the ship gets me every time:eek: i told dh i would meet him in the room so he stayed to kindly give back ncl their money he's nice like that sometimes unlike me i took mine with me! we woke up the next morning just as we were passing the statue of liberty again for as many times as i've seen it nothing compares to sailing by it up close like that! we washed up had some bacon and eggs and were off the ship by 9am to go home.. the ship, food and crew were great and pleasant i was very pleased. dh did good the present was a great idea we are already planning next years trip thinking of doing the carribean!
