letmetellya Posted October 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Im having a time trying to decide on transportation . For the transfer to the airport, What time do you say to pick up at the port of Miami to go to the Airport? Has anyone had to pay if the ship was delayed? my flight is at 2:30 out of FLL. bluefintuna Posted October 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Don't worry about the ship being late; in 21 cruises they have always docked about 7:00. The major delay for disembarkation is if customs is late or a passenger has to be checked (scrutinized). You should be off about 9:00 or 10:00. You could get a cruiseline transfer for transportation back to FLL.
Santo23 Posted October 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2007 I had the same debate for a cruise we're taking in April. When I called Royal Carib. they mentioned a r/t transfer but we're staying in South Beach on our own prior to the cruise (and they only transfer to dock) so that was out. But, when I inquired about one-way they actually offer it as an option. (not sure why the rep didn't mention) So, I booked a transfer from the dock to FLL, for $ 28pp. This way Royal can handle any delays in arrival, customs, etc. and I don't have to worry about coordinating the ship coming back and my transfer to the airport. Hope this helps.

Taxis from the Port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale Airport are metered and average between $75 - $85 one way (for the cab ride, not per person). There are plenty of taxis at the Port of Miami, you'll have no problem obtaining one. ;) ///////////////
