Crusing without Hubby

Recommended Posts

Myself and at least one other friend are trying to plan a "girls" get away this winter. We are debating a cruise vs. a land vacation. I have been on a couple of cruises with my husband so know what crusing is about and always enjoy it. However, we didn't partake in much nightlife (never even entered the disco :() and things like that (my hubby is one of those early to bed early to rise types). So, I'm just wondering would my friend and I have a good time on a cruise or is the nightlife still primarily couples and such. Just looking for some input and ideas.

Thanks

I wouldn't say the nightlife is all couples at all!!! I mean, sure, if you want slow dancing you prob'ly want dh, but for boogeying down, I'd choose my gal pals over dh (who sounds somewhat like yours).

I've done several land trips with the girls and we're booked on a houseboat next fall. We have no idea what nightlife we'll find at any given dock so do enjoy your Known Choices in nightclubs.

I will be going on my fifth 'girls-only' cruise without my hubby. We have an incredibly good time.

The nightlife is fun. We usually meet up with other 'single' gals that we've met on the ship at night and hang out. On all the cruises I've been on, the mix of singles and couples seems to be half/half.

Since hubby is not too fond of cruising, I usually have a better time on the girls-only cruise.

I say definitely do a girls cruise!!!!! :D

Me (and about 10 friends) did one on the Radiance last November and had a blast!! I am going again next month with my best friend - on the Mariner.

Girls cruises are awesome - for me, it is a totally selfish week. I do what I want, when I want!!! I have a husband and a 10 yr old DD, and my world revolves around her and her needs (which it should) 358 days of the year....the 7 days of the cruise are MINE!!!

Go for it!!

I've gone on a "girls cruise" but it was me and my 3 and 7 year old GIRLS...lol. ;)

We had a blast. And I left the hubby at home. He wouldn't take off work. So I could just imagine how much fun it would be to go with girls that are actually old enough to go dancing with...lol.

Nightlife is awesome. You enjoy. Thankfully neither my wife nor I are "early to bed" type of people. We are early to rise though. Nightlife is of large variety and many singles and couples are roaming the ships.

What cruise are you planning to take?

This is year 2 of my girl's only cruises!!! I say go...you will find fun no matter what you girl's find to do!!!! Last year there were 40 of us.....we did supper together, shows together and even night life together....some of us (me included) just said goodbye when we knew we had had enough night life and went to bed, the others stayed.

GO GO GO GO.....this year I think we are up to 35ish girl's so far!!!! It's a blast and besides I see you are in WI (I am in MN) these boys in these 2 states go out almost every weekend, hunting-fishing something and they do it alone (maybe you join in-I don't) I say claim your girl's fun and have at it!!! :D I have met so many fun people, many of which I still talk to....one pretty much daily!!! My new cabinmate, I talked to her several time a week!!!

Go girl..........we aren't getting any younger!!!!

My best friend of almost 30 years are scheduled for a Mexican Riviera cruise this spring and can hardly wait. It has been six years since we went to an all inclusive in Peurto Vallarta and no matter what you should have a blast.

We decided to cruise so that we would have the option of plenty of activities or just to laze around. The ships are fun but well controlled and with some of the bad publicity around about all inclusives we chose RCCL.

We can hardly wait. No matter what you choose I'm sure you'll have fun too.

In a little over 2 weeks I'll be going on girls cruise #3.

We leave the DHs home to watch the kids. Its nice to be the one waited on (instead of waiting on everyone else). And it's nice to go shopping without having to rush.

I say do it. I'm sure you'll love it.

Almost all my cruises have been girls cruises. The only exceptions were my solo cruises!:p My best friend is the one who convinced me to cruise that first time. We both had such a blast and are hooked.

I think cruises are perfect for girls getaways. You can dance in the nightclubs as long as you want (and not worry about how you are going to get back to your hotel). Get a treatment in the spa. Laze on a beach with a foo-foo drink. Or party it up in a beach bar!! All without a husband or kids pulling you in a different direction!:D

I have my 3rd Annual Chick Cruise in January. It's really a lot of fun, in a totally different way. You can really be yourself and run around and dance in the disco (if that's what you want) and just hang out together. We have had a different # in attendance each year, but I always say the more the merrier. That way you don't always have to do things together. We usually try to do a brand new ship (QM2 and the NCL Pearl), but this next time we're doing the Monarch because it's easy for us (we're all here on the West Coast). Our Chick Cruises are supposed to be little getaways, so we mostly look at shorter cruises (but not the weekend booze cruises).

Next month I'll sail on my 7th cruise without DH. He's only cruised with me twice and hated it both times. So every year I cruise with a friend and have a wonderful time. He won't dance, won't go to the on-board entertainment, complains about everything you can imagine, and generally makes my life miserable during a cruise. He's happier at home, and I'm happier cruising!

I did an all girls cruise last year with two friends. It was a blast! We each got our own room as we found a deal where there was zero single supplement. We all got to do our own thing alot as we did not worry about trying to do everything together. Hope you have a great time with whatever you decide but I think you will not be disappointed in a cruise with girlfriends.

Best,

Michelle

I had to cancel my cruise last May on the Voyager from Barcelona due to emergency eye surgery. My wife went with my daughter instead.

We had been on the Voyager a few months earlier inthe Caribbean and my wife recognized our headwaiter in the dining room but he didn't acknowledge her.

After a few days she went up to him to say hello and asked if he remembered her. He did, but noticed that she was with someone else so he hadn't said hello. He was being very discreet.

So have a good time without your husband - what happens on the ship, stays on the ship!

So how was the solo?? I am soooooo tempted to do a 3 niter alone.....just to get away from EVERYONE lol. I have a busy demanding job..and just to have 3 days of NO ONE would be awesome lol.

My sister and I have done 3 cruises without husbands!

We have a blast..sleep late, do what we want which is mostly nothing at all!!

Did venture to the disco after midnight, spent times in the casino or just sat on our balcony babbling over a few cocktails!!

We have made a pact that we travel together once a a year. We live in different states so whether it's a cruise or land trip, at least once a year we do it!!
