I like traveling over Thanksgiving....A cruise, Las Vegas, Biloxi, Gatlinburg, etc etc. We did a Christmas cruise a couple years back (My daughter, myself and her Grandparents) and we all decided never to cruise Christmas again. It just didn't 'feel' right and none of us were in our usual Chrsitmas spirit. But Thanksgiving...You betcha! :)

Since its just Wendy and I, we like heading over to our local casino and having a great Turkey Dinner and then back home to check out the FootBall games.

Fred

Fred I always want to shout out to you since I live in San Diego also! Are you guys hitting up Viejas or Sycuan? That definitely sounds like fun!

To the OP:

This year we are cruising the week before. We actually return on Thanksgiving Day. We will then make the trek to my sisters house up the coast. My only regret is that the cruise doesnt end after the holiday. We are going on this cruise with my parents and all of us are wishing it was after the holiday. I would go on another one during the holiday in a heart beat. I would also go during Christmas in a heart beat. We do not have kids though its just Chris and I so that definitely isnt an issue!

I'd go whenever I could! LOL I'm not proud! Our next one is for New Year's Eve in Dec. 2008, wish we could go sooner but we have so many weeks of timeshare backed up that if we don't use them we'll lose them (we own six different timeshare weeks). We offer them to the kids but they are so used to us paying for everything that they don't want to go anywhere without us! If my parents had offered me a free week, anywhere, I would have jumped.

*singing from Bye-Bye Birdie*...."Kids, what's the matter with kids today?"

Too many choices.........tooo damn spoiled....(has 2 kids herself)

:D

I'd give it some consideration! If I'm looking at the right calendar, it'd also include my birthday. weeeeeeeeee!

Might even be able to get BubbaQ away from the BlackFriday Sales. :D

That would be a great way to celebrate your birthday. Also it sounds like you would have a bonus gift of no Black Friday Sales. Lol ;)

We have done Thanksgiving trips twice with our family, once to Disneyworld and then again on a cruise. Had fun on both, but I really enjoyed the cruise. But then getting back to our cold weather was kind of depressing :( Will likely end up doing another family trip somewhere, hopefully a cruise again. It's nice for families, because they can do their own thing, and then get together every night for dinner with no cooking or cleaning.

Yup!!! We're going on our second Thanksgiving cruise next month. Love it. We bring my mother, so that makes 4 of us. It's wonderful. I don't miss cooking, cleaning, or hassles with relatives. We have a few family members who are notoriously late, don't help cook or clean, and cause problems with other family members during the holidays. I'd rather avoid all that!

It's nice to dress formally and to be treated like royalty on Thanksgiving. :)

We are going to Disney in Orlando at Christmas!

I totally agree with you on that.

You will love Disney at Christmas. If you actually plan to go to the parks on Christmas or New Years day go as early as possible because the parks fill up fast and they usually stop allowing guests to enter the park after 10:00 AM. Just a little advice from a former DL (1985-1986) WDW (2003-2006) cast member. I want to go back and do it again because it was so much fun. :D

Yes, we are planning to go into the parks. Thank you for the tip! :)

Since the holidays are about family, it doesn't matter where we go (with family) to celebrate them.

You could count me in for one cabin (2 people) for sure, with a possible second (with 3 people). Would it be eastern or western? Not that it matters, since my recent western got re-routed. :D Just curious.

Here is the one I am looking into.

Ship Carnival Glory

Sailing From Port Canaveral (Orlando), FL on 11/22/2008

Itinerary Port Canaveral (Orlando), FL ; Nassau, Bahamas ; St. Thomas, USVI ; St. Maarten, NA ; Port Canaveral (Orlando), FL

7 day Eastern Caribbean.

Eastern Western doesn't matter to me I will be on a cruise with some great people I can call friends. ;)

Probably not--at least not currently. My kids are still unmarried, but at college and rarely get to come home. I know that soon they will have "other" families and will be spending holidays with them. So for now, I will be selfish and spend every holiday possible with my kids.

Now if they ever abandon us over the holidays, I'm ready!!!
