Invite to Captain's Table

I did a search on this but couldn't find anything or it's buried within other posts and I couldn't find it. Is it possible to get an invite to the captain's table? If so, how?

I was invited to the Captain's table in July on formal night on a 4 night cruise. It was one of those "out of the blue" invitations...but FUN!

 

After dinner we received an invitation to dine with the Captain and some of his staff in his private dining room in the crew's quarters on the last sea day of our cruise.

 

That was a memorable occasion!
