Deposit vs remaining balance

First time cruiser and was wondering if the $250. I put down as a deposit is subtracted from my remaining balance. Will say the cabin and tax totals $1000. do I subtract that $250. and pay only $750? Or does the deposit amount not matter when it comes to paying the remaining amount. Do you get the $250. back at some point?

The deposit is subtracted from the final payment. So if the cruise is $1000 and your deposit is $250 then your remaining balance would be $750.

and you can pay the balance in installments.:)

Or you can do what my wife does for our cruises. She works out how much per month will pay it off by the final payment date, then throws that amount in a savings account each month and lets it rot until a couple of weeks before final paymet is due. Then just pays it off and there's some $$ from interest in our pocket instead of the cruise line's.
