tlftlf Posted October 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2007 Anyone have suggestions on the best port to golf in that is reasonably priced and not hard to get to from where we dock? Thanks in advance.
sassyredhat Posted October 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2007 My DH took the ship's (Carnival Spirit) golf tours in Acapulco and Ixtapa. He said they were both fabulous. He is planning to take the Carnival Sensation's golf tours in Puerta Vallarta, Matzlan and Cabo when she comes to the west coast. All these ports have good golf, but since he was with a tour, the golf pro took care of everything. Not sure how far away the 1st two were. I think he said about 20-30 minute ride. wtoms Posted October 19, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2007 Hi tlftlf, I have golfed Cabo Del Sol in Cabo and Estrella Del Mar In Mazatlan. Both wonderful couses, my favorite being Cabo. You can taxi from the pier in Cabo to the course, and save some money by internet booking your tee time beforehand, however on both occaisions I booked thru the cruise ship (carnival and Princess). I wouldnt attempt the Mazatlan courses on your own, kinda a long way thru the desert to get there but still well worth it. I am planning golfing in Acapulco and Manzanillo in Feb. and would also appreciate any feedback. Just type if you want more info. Tom
CrystalWater Posted October 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2007 I have heard Cabo is one of the best places to golf in the world. I guess they have several incredible courses.
wtoms Posted October 19, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2007 Hi again tlftlf, I forgot to mention that I always take my own clubs, saves money and I cant blame the rentals for crappy shots! (although the rentals are usually better than my own ! NIKE and Callaway ). nevertheless its handy to have your own stuff you are comfortable with if your playing a world class course. imagine1 Posted October 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Hi Tom, My husband, Phil, is planning on playing at Cabo del Sol in February. Which course did you play - the desert or the ocean? Would you mind sharing the web link to arrange a tee time, too? Thanks! Deborah
wtoms Posted October 23, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Hi Imagine1 I dont have the link but if you google http://www.teetimesmexico.com that will get you there! I golfed the desert course and it was wonderful, lots of views of the ocean and kept in first class condition. I'm sure the ocean course is every bit as nice. The clubhouse has good food and is relatively new , you cant go wrong! have a great cruise, Tom
imagine1 Posted October 23, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Thanks, Tom! I think my husband is partial to the desert course because of what he's read about it. Hasn't decided whether to take his own clubs or not but either way it sounds like he'll make out okay.
