London to Harwich

Can anyone lend input on a reasonable way from London to the dock at Harwich?

I believe there is a train from London directly to Harwich. It's supposed to be fairly easy. When we were there this spring, we purposely stayed in an RCCL hotel which included the transfers. It's about 2 - 2 1/2 hours by bus, probably a little shorter on the train.

If you aren't burdened down by a lot of luggage, the train is an excellent option and the station is right at the pier. Otherwise, the cruiseline transfers may be your best bet unless you are traveling with a group of people. In that case you should look into booking a van or bus with one of the companies that specializes in transporting people to the cruise terminals. It is about a two and a half hour ride from London to Harwich, so try to arrange comfortable transport.:)

We took the boat train from London's Liverpool Station. As mentioned earlier, this train takes you directly to the dock at Harwich where you can find your cruise ship or, in our case, we took the ferry to Holland. Very easy to do.

The easiest way by far is to catch a train.

 

The train runs from Liverpool Street Station, departs almost hourly (at the moment it's at 18 minutes past each hour). The journey takes 1hour 30 minutes.

You need to get off at Harwich Parkeston Quay (there are other Harwich stations). There are no direct trains on Sundays.

 

The one way cost at the moment is 23 Pounds ($47) standard class, 36.80 pounds First Class ($80). Reduced rates apply for round trip tickets.
