Mambo or Kontiki beach, which is closest to where ship docks any recent reviews

Are there any recent review of Mambo or Konti Beach? We are looking for a nice sandy beach that will be appropriate for individuals that are not strong swimmers. Does anyone have any idea how much a taxi cost to get to either one of those beaches? And is there an entry fee and a restuarant and bathroom facilities there? Do they rent lounge chairs and are there place to set up in the shade that is near the water?

Are there any real differences between the two beaches?

The beaches are next to each other. There is no difference. Each one charges about 3.00 PP. Chairs are included .

There are rest rooms at both and Kontiki has a restaurant. I don't remember if Mambo did, but Mambo did have a bar.

There were very few umbrellas but plenty of palm trees for shade.

When I was there the cab fare was about 15.00 each way.

Mambo has a restaurant as well. Just remember that if you can grab a taxi on the other side of the swinging bridge (Punda side) it will be a cheaper fare because the taxi doesn't have to go all the way around over the huge bridge...

Normally the cruise ships dock on the Otrabanda side or the Mega Pier (Also Otrabanda side) Your few walking steps over the picturesque swinging bridge or taking the free ferry across should save you a few taxi bucks. :) and time.

We want a nice beach with chairs food and drinks. Which is better, closer and/or cheeper to get to?

Both are the SAME beach. One area is Kontiki and the other Mambo. One is not a better beach than the other. You can tell which beach you are on by the color of the chairs. Picture this, you are standing on the beach and all the chairs around you are blue. Look further down the beach and they are all yellow.

Both have chairs.

Both have drinks.

Both are going to cost you the same.

Both have rest rooms.

Kontiki has food but I am not sure about food at Mambo. From what I recall Kontiki does have a larger restaurant area.

Mambo and KonTiki are not really "beaches" but rather beach clubs, or restaurants, located adjacent to each other on the same beach.

You can have your taxi driver drop you off at KonTiki and look at the facilities and menu, then walk down the beach to Mambo to check it out and decide which one you want to spend your time at. We went mostly for lunch and thought that KonTiki looked a little nicer for our purposes. Both looked nice.

I was at Kon Tiki beach and loved it. When we got off the ship, we jumped in a cab and told him to take us to Kon Tiki. When we arrived he asked if we needed a ride back, we said yes and made arrangements for him to come back in 4 hours. It cost 3.00 to get in and 3.00 to rent a lounge chair. We ate there and it was delicious. Prices were average. At the stated time we left and the taxi was there waiting for us, we asked him to drop us in town for some shopping, which he did and then we walked back to the ship.
