I know the kids will be bored doing tours so we'd like to find a great beach with ameneties - I'd be willing to book a hotel room if I had to.

When are you arriving and for how long will you stay prior to your cruise? There are many alternatives but it depends on your free time.

Beaches in Condado and Isla Verde are the closest to the ships.

 

Check out Intercontinental and Marriott.

 

You may get a day pass - but can't find any details about this.

 

I know you said that they would be bored of tours...

 

You could always do the Segway tour of Old San Juan - something a bit different!
