squirrellee01 Posted October 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2007 Can anyone tell me some of the native languages that are spoken by the crew on the Majesty? I'm going Jan 12 out of Charleston, SC to the Caribbean. (Room 948) Thanks for your help. SHERYL
salty dingo Posted October 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2007 It would be easier to list the languages not spoken by the crew :D !
cruizinwithkids Posted October 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2007 It would be easier to list the languages not spoken by the crew :D ! I love that they have the flags from their native countries on their name tags. I would love it if along with the map of the ship, we also got a legend showing the country and the flag. There were a lot of Filipinos. I also saw South Africa, Peru, Italy, Indonesia, India, Macedonia, Barbados, Jamaica and St. Lucia. I can picture some of the flag, but I can't remember where they were from.
fin Posted October 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2007 Fair point. Not unusual to have reps from 45-50 or even more different countries. I like that NCL lists this on their nametags.
salty dingo Posted October 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2007 I have seen a lot of eastern europeans on my cruises. It's always interesting to strike up a conversation with a crew member, and ask them about their homeland. They are always eager to share.
cruzeluver Posted October 26, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2007 All crew members on the Majesty are from the nation of Hospitalia, a distant land where people are raised to be extremely helpful, friendly, and to go above and beyond to ensure the enjoyment of others. :D At least it appeared that way to me. ;)
NCmom Posted October 27, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2007 I think when we were on the Majesty in April of 2006, they said they had 47 countries represented onboard. I thought the crew was excellent.
salty dingo Posted October 27, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 27, 2007 You know, it is interesting for us passengers to get to know the crew, but it must be far more informative for the crew to get to know each other. Cruising may be fostering a new era of detante! (Bet you have not thought of that word since Jimmy Carter was president!)
