dinner the first night?

There is a dress code for first night. It's casual and there is a sign outside the dining room that says NO SHORTS, NO TANK TOPS, but like all other dress code issues on RCI, the staff choose to ignore it.

We've had to eat the first night in shorts before because our luggage didn't arrive till waaaaay later- while we apologized to our tablemates, it didn't stop us from enjoying our dinner in the diningroom- after all it wasn't exactly our fault! Sometimes people just don't know the circumstances involved.

Beware of the fashion police! Many on these boards will talk a big game about "appropriate" dress but not a single one of them would ever have the nerve to say something to your face about your clothing...

Some people waste their entire cruise judging you by your clothing... don't let them bother you... they apparently can't find anything better to do with their time onboard...

A suggestion, if you'd be more comfortable in something other than what you traveled all day in, put a change of clothes in your carry on bag along with your swim suits, gym clothes, or whatever else you want to put in there. That way you can enjoy your first day on the ship, shower if you'd like and put on fresh clothes. Never know, might make your first night's dinner that much more enjoyable. Happy sailing.

Everyone gets a pass all the rest of the nights because the crew doesn't want to tick the fashion challenged off and jeopardize their tips..:)

That shouldn't happen even though I know it does . The staff shouldn't have to make decisions based on impending tips.
