barante Posted October 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2007 This 17-day itinerary may be exactly what we are looking for. We have been looking at RCI Radiance of the Seas' Brazilian itinerary in Feb. 2009, but this Port Everglades-to-Buenos Aires run has better ports. An excellent mix of sea days. And a big plus: Only one long flight and it comes at the end so that should minimize possible headaches with lost luggage. We had no idea that this existed. We have never sailed on Carnival. We have done four on Celebrity, two on NCL and one, our favorite so far, on HAL's Noordam, which we will repeat in March. What's exciting is that Splenor is a brand-new concept ship. So thanks again for bringing this to our attention. We are seriously considering. I'll keep you updated.
doularose Posted October 28, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted October 28, 2007 We have been on other lines as well and always come back to Carnival. Everytime we say Carnival, people always say "oh the party ship" I don't know about you, but there seems to be a far amount of "partying" on the other lines as well. We like the itinerary and price. Hope to meet you sometime:)
barante Posted October 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2007 We took an NCL cruise to Bermuda last month and I, in the spirit of freestyle, did not pack even a blazer. Do people on Carnival dress to the nines or is it more relaxed? I have nothing against wearing a tux, as a matter of fact I quite like, but don't want to worry about it, if one is not needed. A pevious alternative we considered, a trans-Atlantic from Rio to Madrid on Oceania Insignia is even more relaxed than NCL.
barante Posted October 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2007 doularose -- We are booked. Got an inside midship on the Empress deck. Can't beat Carnival air price. We'll do a couple of days post-cruise in Buenos Aires. This cruise gave us the biggest bang for the buck. We also looked at RCI's Radiance of the Seas, which has a nice Brazilian itinerary. But I thought that Montevideo and Punta del Este are pretty much wasted stops.
doularose Posted October 30, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted October 30, 2007 Hello, Hooray! another cruiser who leaves all the fancy clothes at home. My DH (just retired) and I (working to pay for this)just like hanging out and relaxing. Sometimes we just go up to the buffet and have dinner and sometimes we sit with our tablemates. We have learned just to do what we want. He wore a tie all is working life and will only put one on for a wedding. So we'll be the couple in confortable clothes, having a drink in the casino, walking along the deck, or taking a nap! We got a balcony so we'll be hanging out there alot. Lets plan to meet. Carnival is known for great service and relaxing cruising. I guess that's why we always seem to go with Carnival (unless someone else is paying, then we'll go on whatever ship they like:) ) Keep in touch. Doularose:)
