CASPALL Posted October 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2007 Has anyone been to Malaga on a Sunday morning? I just realised that we are there for the morning of the 18th and it's a Sunday. I remember the cruise where we were in Palma for the morning -on a weekday - and the place was only livening up at noon when we were heading back to the ship. I just wanted to wander around the town, have a coffee-maybe go to El Corte to spend a few euros, but wondering what time the shops will open. BrianI Posted October 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2007 The shops don't open in Spain on Sunday, and you will be lucky is there are any coffee shops open before noon. I assume you are on the Oriana along with ourselves. The ship sails at 1pm Brian
Juden2307 Posted October 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2007 Hi, We were there a couple of years ago and nothing was open not even beach cafes or coffe shops. We ended up just going for a walk but we were back on the ship within 1hr.
CASPALL Posted October 29, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2007 I thought as much! Thanks for your input. Yes Brian we're on the Oriana. I haven't heard from anyone else going on this cruise until now. The last classical cruise we were on, the average age must have been 78 and the Oriana was like a ghost ship by 11.30pm. Just hoping this one will be a bit livelier! Caryl

We did the same cruise last year on Aurora but it was 2 weeks later and was not a classical cruise. The weather, however, was superb and going a little earlier this year, I hope it will be the same Brian
CASPALL Posted October 29, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted October 29, 2007 Hope so too Brian! Did you enjoy all the ports of call? We've booked one of the Cairo tours - it'll be a long day and I can't say I'm looking forward to the bus journey. I'm not the best at coach travel. Caryl We did not do Cairo/pyramids as we have been there before. It is a very early departure (around 7am) and you dont get back until 8-9pm. Its about a 2.5hour (min) journey each way in a convoy of coaches with a police escort. We just relaxed in the sunshine on deck. Probably the worst port but should be good sunny weather. Was around 22-23C last year in Dec Brian
CASPALL Posted October 30, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted October 30, 2007 We haven't seen the Pyramids yet so feel we have to do this tour. If we decide we like Cairo it might mean a future holiday there. 22-23 degrees sounds good! Lucky you! On our very first cruise, I couldn't understand why people stayed on the ship instead of going ashore. By the 2nd cruise I realised! Caryl
