Spirit Air Luggage ?

Not a Cruise question, but I read in a budget travel mag that Spirit Airlines now lets you check 1 bag without a charge. Does anyone know this to be true ??? part of our group is flying Spirit.:confused:

Here's where to go to read their baggage policies. http://www.spiritair.com/welcome.aspx?pg=policies#baggage It appears that they charge for every checked bag. The first bag is $5 if you pay in advance on the web, or $10 if you pay at the airport.

wrp is correct. i fly spirit all the time to fl. only a carry on

is free and it has to be able to fit overhead.

We just came back from Las Vegas last week flying with Spirit. They did charge $10 for each checked bag if you didn't pre-pay in advance via the internet. This charge is each way, so $20 total. I did only get charged $5 for the return flight when I told them the site wouldn't let me pre-pay (which was the truth). It might have had something to do with booking with Travelocity......I can't remember now.
