wvdleek Posted November 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2007 Holland America Line will name the Eurodam on July 1 in Rotterdam where the company was founded 135 years ago. The ceremony will be held near Holland America's original headquarters, now the Hotel New York. The ship arrives June 29 to begin four days of celebrations and departs July 2 with its first passengers for a three-day 'prelude' cruise. 'For us, it's a homecoming and we expect tens of thousands of Holland America Line supporters to be on hand as we proudly welcome Eurodam into service,' said Stein Kruse, president and ceo. In the days leading up to the naming, the Eurodam will sail from Venice to Southampton for showcase events. A day after the naming, the ship will embark on a three-day cruise to Copenhagen, calling at Hamburg. Kruse is scheduled to be aboard, and customers booked on this 'prelude' cruise will be able to attend the naming ceremony. The 10-day round-trip maiden voyage departs from Copenhagen on July 5 and visits Oslo, Ålesund, Vik, Flåm and Stavanger, Norway; Newcastle Upon Tyne, England; Edinburgh (via South Queensbury) - the line's second highest rated port of call - and Invergordon, Scotland. Newcastle will be a maiden call.

Ine Posted November 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2007 Bedankt Hr. van de Leek. Sounds exactly like we (and others) hoped it would be.... Remembering the dedication of Oosterdam which we attended too and that was a nice sunny day. As we booked (thanks to the tip Jim sent us) the prelude, I think we have much to look forward to. wvdleek Posted November 8, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted November 8, 2007 Yes, we are Jim! Are you going to be there, Meneer van der Leek? I do hope that the members of the Association De Lijn will be invited, just like at the naming ceremony of the Oosterdam. In that case I certainly will be there. If we are not invited, I have to find other ways to be there ;-)
